Same guy who is building the super and turbocharged V12 360 is building a winter car (360 also) with B230 redblock turbo for himself.. He made this in few days..

It's a getrag mated with 760 multilink diff and 360 torque tube, 2cm longer than the stock 360 setup and it fit's in place perfectly..

Adapter between the box and diff

He shortened the torque tube a bit and he's going to manufacture a suitable joint to connect the torque tube to the box.

Whole topic

So for those who can weld, that seems to be a quite a nice way of solving the gearbox/diff problems, while still keeping the trans-axle setup.

I had thought about using a 960 IRS but complete and a normal box up front.
Good initiative

Who do I send the cheque to?

Now that's pretty nifty :) Do you know what he used to mate to the torque tube splines? Dave was thinking you could use a suitably sized output shaft flange from a diff (i.e. the piece between the diff and the half-shaft).

cheers

That is awesome! Only one end of the 'link' needs to be removable, so if you weld up the 'thin' splined end, then use the huge Getrag splines for the 'disconnect'...job done :)

cheers

Update. :D Gear linkage is in place. It's welded on to the frame in the pics to keep the linkage in correct position while he was making it.

That's quite craftsmanship. :P As he shortened the torque tube about ~9cm, the bearings in the torque tube came closer to the intake shaft of the box so he thinks the bearing is near enough to handle the support for Getrag's intake shaft so extra bearing for intake shaft should not be needed. :P

what do you mean meintag? why is he doing the swap, or why did fuse post more pics of him fitting the gear linkage?

Wow... idiomatic troubles !

I've said that speaking of fit a getrag box to a 360... I assume that is a very strong box, but, a stock box can't manage a 230 turbo ?

I don't view the point... Please lead me to the light ! :D

Sorry for the confussion !!

He needs to sort out all the bracketry into kit form, so people would just need the box and diff. I'd buy one.

I suppose it offers better ratios and more peace of mind, particularly for heavy use. Though it is probably a very expensive mod for those gains.

When you have traction, you start blowing up the drivetrain very quickly with the powerlevels of 250hp and above, so a setup like that gives you much less trouble with the drivetrain when you don't have to swap the box/diff every other week.
