Is it me...

Post by workshopmanualman » 30 Jan 2008 07:29 pm

...or are Volvo dealers beginning to dispose of all their old 300 series stock on eBay at the moment? I know there has always been bits put on, but many of them now state that they are having a clear out.

The other day I popped into a dealer to see what I could buy - I don't thnk I'll bother again. Their response was to go and join the club if I wanted bits for such an old car. I only wanted hoses.

Guess then that the dear old 300 has become a classic - by which I mean a vehicle you have to hunt for parts for!

I saw you having a crafty bid on a certain cooling system component. We have a "gentleman's agreement" around these parts that we don't outbid each other...but it's a shame, sometimes sm56 :D

cheers

Sorry!

Post by workshopmanualman » 31 Jan 2008 08:43 am

Hi, sorry about the bid  - I don't actually need the thing, but given the state of Volvo inc these days, plus the fact that the breakers around here do not know what a 360 is, I thought I'd start building up some spares myself. Let me know if you want it, and if I win it could be yours instead for the same price no worries :D .

With near 1,000 members, you must have a good memory not to outbid us all! How does the agreement work in practice then?

As for my bid, I work in reverse on eBay - I tend to put a bid in as soon as I find something I'm interested in, and if I'm outbid, well that's it for me.

Well, not all the members are active, and not all use ebay, so it's generally looking out for the usual suspects ;) or occasionally someone posts here saying 'I want it! please don't outbid me'

I only rarely buy stuff on e-bay, mainly if no one else seems to want it and I think it could be useful, or the current owner's just going to chuck it out if it doesn't sell. Therefore I usually sneak a bid in at the last minute if no one else has :)

Feel free!

Post by workshopmanualman » 31 Jan 2008 09:22 am

My maximum bid isn't much higher than my current one, so if anybody wants it, then please feel free to outbid me here. Same applies to anything else I'm bidding on at the moment - none of it I actually really need!

I'm still after a door check-strap by the way......

Well, if you don't mind I may do (if I remember to put a bid in). My GLT's got the wrong water pump fitted, making it overheat at motorway speeds! The last time I looked, GK, Triscan, QH and SKF aftermarket ones were still available but we weren't able to find out who made the original pumps ...

I was tempted to put a bid down on it, even though I don't have a redblock atm! Glad you guys have found it!

Water pump

No worries Tom, go ahead if you wish. My car gets a bit warm in traffic, but that is more to do with half the fins being missing from the rad. Much better this item goes to an autobahn hero!

Oi Tom, I was enquiring because I wanted it :D sm56 I do need one for my B230, but I'm not desperate to get a Volvo one. If you really want it, and if Mr PIJ isn't too bothered...well...I can go either way with it.

I bet you've got the one for a B19, right Tom?

cheers

Yes that's it, see this thread:
http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... php?t=5416
I discovered the previous owner had somehow squeezed a B19 pump to a B200 engine. Haven't managed to find a replacement yet and am in dire need of one!

Perhaps we'd better continue this via Email, don't think we'll be doing ourselves any favours if we keep bumping this thread ;-)
