Erm, yes that was perhaps a bit of a blanket statement
In 1977 the Ford parts depot in Cologne burnt down, destroying most of the parts stored in it and that apparently affected parts availability for early Fords. I had serious problems in getting brake and exhaust bits for my Mk1 Transit a couple of years ago.
Since then, Ebay has grown of course, and an online shop for old Fords has opened up in Munich for service parts, but the odd looks I may get from Volvo these days are nothing like the baffled expressions I used to get from Ford ...

I phoned my local Ford dealer when I wanted timing gears for my old saab 96 V4. The lad insisted that Ford have never ever made a V4 engine! Worst still he told me FoMoCo had nothing to do with Ford - when I told his boss about the idiot he employed his expintation was how did you expect him to know
At least when I go to the Volvo dealer they know what a PV is

They don't sell parts, they sell packages with numbers, if there is no such number in machine or package description it was never made and of course salesman does right thing there. Sometimes I feel world is bit more than a little sickclassicswede wrote:I phoned my local Ford dealer when I wanted timing gears for my old saab 96 V4.
