I think I'll be having a bit of that, I would swap both arms for a red quattro
...and both my legs for Keeley Hawes!

Looking forward to watching that. Pity we didn't all go and buy cheap Quattros a few years ago, I suppose prices will now go the same way as Cortinas!
This guy must be pretty gutted though:

Call me an anorak but it took a good year or two for the Audi Coupe (Quattro or otherwise) to catch on in this country, they were as rare as hen's teeth in 1981 and a V-reg? I don't think so. The new-font reg plate is a piss poor prop too, it wouldn't have been very hard for the BBC to get an old-style one made-up cos I still can!
A detective driving a coupe in 1981 would have had a Capri, Opel Manta, Opel Monza or maybe a Toyota.....

Lets just suspend disbelief for a bit and enjoy seeing a rally icon getting scoited around. I wish I'd bought one, they were on my 'to buy' list, but the prices will go nuts now.

Yesterday that appeared mysteriously to my computers harddisc. No idea how but. It was better than i thought. And that scene where Hunt says "Right let's fire up the Quattro was superb.

Chris, you can see it again with the BBC's new iPlayer. You can either download it somehow, or there's a simple online flash version. I missed it as well, so I used the iPlayer, very good it is too, although the online version is relatively low res.

I sound like an ad for the beeb
I didn't watch Life on Mars, other than the very last ep, but think I might watch this Ashes to Ashes, just for the Quattro!

1982 you could get lhd Quattro's as Audi imported 150, but rhd wasn't introduced until 1983. And would a Copper have been driving around in one? They were £18k way back then, and London insurance would have been a killer. Does it matter? She's apparently in a coma where all the features are significant to her alone.
Good show though. "Fire up the Quattro" is way up there in terms of things to say. "Fire up the 360 GLT" doesn't quite sound the same....
Oh, and yes - that numberplate is poor form. They must have just popped down to halford's at the last minute?

I felt the choice of car for Gene Hunt was a bit off the mark. Rally icon or not, at the time it was driven by yuppies and the like. A slightly better choice would've been a Ford Granada, a Capri, or dare I say it, a 240 Turbo ?
I also missed Annie, and the Rastafarian barman from the old series. Still enjoyed it though

The SD1 would have been ideal, but Clarkson trashed the image of that particular car for me. Triumph 2500? Coupe no good for four coppers in a chase - took them ages to get out of the Quattro. Man, they had time to spring a whole storyline during the time it took them to get out of the thing.
Quattro just too, well, yuppie for an 80's copper.
He wouldn't have had any Volvo now would he? DAF 55.....
