Well, my insurance payed me out the $2700, not bad considering that if you take away rego and insurance and fuel costs, that's probably what i've spent on the car all up in the last 2 years.
I didn't buy the wreck back, manly because i need another car asap, so even though i could have made money from the wreck, it would have trickled in over time as opposed to being cash in my pocket.
I went to auction as you normally pick up bargains there, but too many poeple were there bidding cars up to near market value, pretty stupid as the cars are there to be cleared, obviously there must be some sort of issue with them, and you can't test drive them, so no point buying unless you have a clear cash buffer from normal prices to fix possible issues. after about 5 hours most the fuckwits had left, but not before outbidding me on all the good cars i wanted, however in the last few cars that were for sale, there was a 99 magna wagon, you probably don't even get them in europe, but a reasonable car, a little heavy on fuel, but reasonable to drive, i ended up buying it for $1900, which is about a 3rd of it's value, so i'm happy enough, it'll do for a family car, despite being a front wheel drive auto, when i was looking for a rear wheel drive manual...
anyway, no volvos 360s in my household for the time being, but when tax time rolls around, i should get a few thou back, i'll be heading out and buying another 360 as a second car. love a hatch for it's convinience, love a rwd, love manuals, love central locking and power windows, the only place i can get all that for cheap is a 360, so i'll be keeping my eye out for another.
