but my power steering rack which has done about 6 road rallys has exremely sloppy inner ball joints.Does anybody know if they are still available to buy new coz mine will definatly not pass M.O.T.Also i have put an entry into a local rally,Rali Bro Tiefi. It starts in Cardigan West Wales and has daytime selectives and night time selectives on the 11/12th April which is my deadline to finish the car,and was wondering if anybody would be able to marshall for me on this event. There is also a day event which we enter every year called Classic Tracks. Its a brilliant rally which really tests the strength of the cars that enter and every year more Volvos are entered than the last(Is that saying something or what). We may also need a marshall for this one too.It is useually in the last week of May,and is based in Llanybydder, Ceredigion,West Wales. So if you would like to see some real tough rally action with 300 series volvos then come along,or if you would like to enter give me a PM and we can sort something out.Cheers boys, gotta go the Rugbys on,Triple crown here we come.

I could get you a PC probably, but i couldn't say 100%.It useually depends on if you turn up early enough, then you can pretty much pick where you want to go.Last time i signed a marshall on i said that the boys girlfriend was 9 months pregnant and ready to pop so could we have the first PC available in case she pops.It worked a treat, had a real early one with no clock. She was pregnant but only about 5 months,so i was'nt lying really.
Which rally were you interested in marshalling on?
Did you see the post with the pictures of the capri carb on the 360GLS manifold or are you goin down the same route as me and using injection?

well, I have a b230fb engine (injection standard) but I don't have the computers etc. As it is going to be a little while yet until I can even consider dropping the engine in, I have plenty of time to finish rebuilding it (needs a hone, so I figure I'll check all the rest at the same time). Currently I have an H-cam and mildly adjustable gear and plans for a 2.5" exhaust and lightweight flywheel (as well as all gasket sets and parts needed to overhaul an engine, and convert to block mount dizzy) I'm hoping that that with port matched head and manifolds will provide about 150bhp ish with plenty of torque. Any suggestions are very welcome though as I have plenty of different routes to consider

I am also in the middle of a rally car project which consists of a 340 1.4 shell which I have fitted a 360 diff box and torquetube.I have a 230k block with 13mm rods, flat top pistons,530 Head portmatched and slightly polished,740 turbo manifold and throttle body.It has a Kent Cam L4 profile which needed landrover discovery lash caps(top hat shaped caps which fit on top of the valve stems)and machine shop made valve shims to get it to fit, adjustable cam pulley,240 electronic ignition system and the original injection system with 740 16valve injectors.240 flat flywheel, uprated pressure plate and bespoke twin paddle sprung clutch plate. One of the best upgrades i did was have a downpipe made to fit around the 240 power steering rack but it does'nt fit now coz i have gone back to a 360 PAS,it made a noticable difference to the power. And a 2.5" straight through 2 box exhaust system. The white GLT it was in before used to absoloutly fly.I reckon a conservative estimate on the power from that engine was about 160-180 bhp but i never had it on the rolling road to find out coz my missus wrapped it up flat in 3rd.OOOPPPS!!!!!!!!

Suspension setup i use spax adjustable shocks and GLT leafsprings on the rear, koni adjustable on hardest setting with GLT stock springs on the front but i have recently discovered that 240 wagon or saloon rear springs are the same diameter as 300 front springs so if you want uber strong springs you could go with 240 estate springs but as of yet it is untried. You would probably have to cut them to length. In my experiance with heavy duty escort MK2 springs on the front of my white GLT you have to seriously strengthen the lower spring platform otherwise they start to fold downwards even with extra braces underneath the platform!!

The Koni's are no longer available new. I have 1,5 set (1 front, 2 rear). The first set were on the car when I bought my 343 DL special, the last one I bought on ebay-a-like website. It's a huge difference! It transforms your car from boat to a sportscar.
Frits (rwdstudent) is the one with new koni's. He had quite some luck with finding those. There really hard to get hold on. Even here in the NL (where koni is based).
For the interested. I now of a used set of front-koni's. about a year of usage...
