Wings...hmm

Well I can't get a hold of any wings for my car from the local guys. So im left with these options i think:

1. Get second hand Wings/Rear Arches.
2. Bodge them with fibreglass/Bodyfiller and hope for the best.
3. Make some fibreglass wings (Alignment issues, not to mention ill need an intact set of wings as plugs. but doable)
4. Weld in arches from another car.
5. Cut the rust out, seal the bare metal and cover them with some fenders (Mk2 XR2/MK2 Golf Gti.)
6. Ask you lot where i can get new wings!?

Lets try 6 as id like her to be original.

I ain't dragged through the forum to see if anyone else has had this problem yet, damn search function steals my life!

Have you asked your local volvo dealer? I think someone said they were still available and only ~£30 each.

I'm needing a pair of wings too - dunno if they're available from dealers - I doubt it at this stage. Hadrian Panels have one side though

I may need a front drivers side one, will have to investigate if there really is some rot in there

Here it is ~120€/each, sure it comes cheaper to ship those from UK than get one from local Volvo dealer here.

Volvo dealers had them not too long ago, but I was stupid and didn't pick any up. I did find a good s/h one not long ago luckily, but might have to make a trip to the dealers to check. I'd jump as theres a few of us to get FG ones made, but there are a lot of overhangs, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be an easy job.

Smith & Deakin in Worcester claim to do wings for volvo 120, 144, 145, 240 but not 300. They're £81.65ea. Can't see 300 ones being harder to make than 240 ones, but I assume they'd want a minimum order and some good ones to mould from.

Anyone know a price for the hadrian ones mentioned? And Cloud, yours is pre '86 so you can get mk3 wings and ditch the side repeaters altogether.

Acctually making the firbeglass ones would be stright forward...Problem i can see is mounting them and backets for fixing them onto the car...any suggestions? maybe we should look into this. Someone could make a decent well braced mould, I may have ago, but I've never done it before. Plugs still a problem aswell.

It's certainly the mounting thats the problem, on the steel, the top lip folds over a fair way and that folded part has the fixings. Old Jensons had fibreglass panels, with steel L section moulded in for fixings. Great, aside from now when you want to tidy up something, the L section has bubbled and split the entire panel.

The 300 bodykit just puts screw holes in the glass, so that would be my favoured way tbh, but it is going to be a lot of pennies when they still exist

As well as genuine Volvo panels & Hadrian, there is also Warny in Belgium.

I got some sills for my DAF which were manufactured by Warny and they were okay for aftermarket stuff. I had them sent over quite cheaply from a panel supplier in Germany to the UK. Postage on a pair of sills worked out at less than £12. Stick that in your Royal Mail pipe and smoke it!
