Help me write an ebay ad

Post by swordfish210 » 22 Apr 2008 04:34 pm

Hi, i'v finished rebuilding my 205 now (got it MOT'd today :D ) so i now am forced to sell the 360 because i cannot afford to keep 2 cars. I would like to see it to someone on here but i get the impression that everyone here has their quota of cars and probably wont want mine :(

So i am asking you lot to help me write an ebay ad. I dont knowe a gread deal about thse cars (Still! i can hear you all saying  ) so could you give me some info to help me jazz up the ad a bit. I'll fill in all of the boring bits i just need some background info on the cars themselvs (360 GLS is the car in question)

Any info will be greatly appriciated. Thanks. Mark

I assume you'll be offering it on retro rides first? There's a growing 300 series acceptance over there, and someone could well want a tidy one.

Might as well give it a go, it'd cost less than ebay, and you can always just advertise the auction on there if nobody bites at first.

if using the words "Drift ect ect" help these cars sell then i may have to (reluctantly) use them :? I'm on the side of the guys who hate seeing perfectly good cars ripped apart for no good reason other then some twonk who has no respect for classic/rare cars and wants a cheap track car to use and shamefully abuse. But i have to put myself first and what i really want from this car now is MONEY

simple answer is be honest state the good points and the bad.

be accurate dont say 55,000 miles ish
say currenrly showing 55,000 miles but in daily use

know when the mot and tax are due dont guess
( you would beamazed at how many people get it wrong )

also make sure your pictures are clear in focus and are relevant
( i.e. show rust not the furry dice  ),

a good location helps and dont take pictures just after you have washed it with soap suds and a wet road.

now dont kill me for this but the guy who bought my bx 16v has just sold it on ebay and his ad was particularly good

( hence it achieving his buy it now price of £1,350 )

heres a link to it which you could use as a kind of template if you like

and probably just as important as the rest

DONT do a private listing ,

genuine buyers will be put off and suspect you of schill bidding

hope some of that helps

Mick has covered some great points there! A lot of sellers would do well to bear that in mind. One thing though, All ebay ad's now (not just those over £100) are hidden bidders as far as I can see.

Swordfish, do you mean things like the 360 GLS was the executive version of the range, with the economical (ha. haha. hahaha) carb'd version of the 2.0 redblock? I really don't know much about early trim levels though to help I'm afraid.

I guess that spells the end of the gentlemens' agreement then. Unless you can remember how much feedback the other guy has ...
