The Battleship,Williams, sentenced to death!

By that i mean at last i have the internet at home again, and can finaly get some pics of my car up on here for you to see.

I bought the car from "Skinny" on here and RR at the end of January.
It's an 89 3dr DL, in what i call Battleship grey, or Oldman Grey!

Since i've had it's done 1500 miles, with only a top hose splitting, replacement came from Euro Car Parts, because no-one else could get them.

It does have a nasty over running problem, but i will be replacing the motor soon enough so it doesn't really bother me too much.

When i got it, it looked like this:

Next i thought i'd get rid of the bling gold trim tape:

Normaly with my cars i don't give them the love that they deserve, put it like this i've washed my Beetle twice in 5 years, but in fairness washing it takes the paint off!

However something strange has happened with my Volvo, it gets washed and waxed fairly regular now?!
I even went out and purchased some pricey wash and polish stuff:

After it's first wash:

Next i started the polishing, which came out quite well i hope you'll agree.
Left hand side down, right yet to be polished:

Image

The part which came up the best though was without doubt the roof:

Note manky grey bumpers, which i'll sort later:

Image

Overall, the car is fairly clean and tidy except the front valance, and oddly the rear number plate mounting area, which is holed through to the boot.

Next from a mates house i went trawling some Mini forums and came up trumps with these, Ultralights:

Being Mini stud though they are 4x98, so i needed some wooble bolts:

Image

However the center bore was still far to big so i couldn't get the wheels to centralise properly, so i got a local engeneering firm to make these for me, for £30:

Image

I've since the first pics, wire brushed the front valance and painted it black.
Used a back to black type of product on the bumpers and all black trim.

Finaly i've fitted the wheels, all it needs now is a serious hit with the stick and a go faster engine!!

As it looks now, hope you like, i do?! :

omg that is going to look good when its lowered

Thanks for the input guys.

SteveP- i semi agree that they look a bit small, but the original steels are 13" so i think it's more down to the silly low profile Mini tyres that came on them.

Ronnie- Yep, thats exactly what i was thinking, a 2" drop all round would be ideal, anylower and it's impractical with all the bloody speed bumps in my area.

Redline- Cheers, thats next in the pipeline, just a matter of me ordering the bits and putting them on.

I really should update this more often, almost been a year

Well i've been messing about today with some 480GT seats, and after a lot of arsing about i finaly got them in. Now i'm no expert welder infact pretty much a beginer, but thought i'd give it a go, can't be that hard can it.

So i bought some flat iron bar yesterday from B+Q and spent today choppi9ng it up and welding it to get the runners to fit the 340. I used all 4 existing original holes and fabbed a shonky bracket to bolt the runners down to hopefully these pics shall explain better than my ramblings.

Weld

Weld on captive bolts, not pretty but it gets the job done

Then i just got stuck into it so no more pics until the finished article which is thus

Tatty driver seat, got some leather feed for it, but they'll do for me

Image

TBH the paterns are a bit nausiating and i've yet to clean them up, they are as removed from the scrapped 480. I may well leather coluor them ,but i'm not even sure if i'm going to keep them yet, they sit a bit high for my liking, and i made a school boy error of not fitting them far enough back  muppet i know, but nowt a bit more grinding and welding can't sort out.

Then just for fun i thought i'd see if one of my banded steels would fit- yes they do if you ignore the sticking out the archness of them lol

Leather looks cool man. Good fabricating. I like a bit of something different and ive never seen seats patterned up like that. Think i like em.
Banded steels look as mental as i imagined they would dude, roll the arches to within an inch of their life and run them i say.
And how on earth is it still not lowered dude?
Would look killer mean a couple of inches down.
Drop ftw!

Looks hella good though man.
No question.

Affirmative  i think they are new, well to the engine at least as the old ones were a bit fubared.
