anyone know much about parking law

evening,

off volvo topic but vehicle related.

i've got a honda cg bike that i parked up in the lobby of the house (big old place divided into many flats) i reside in. one of the residents kicked up a fuss today and taped a message on the bike that i'd been warned and some other tape just all over the place. now apart from a bunch of really quite chilidish comments about the look of the bike in the lobby (its full of bare plaster and scaffolding anyway...(the lobby, not the bike)) he suggests it is against the law to park a vehicle in a house and it MUST be in a garage or on the street or whatever. he claims to be an architect (so i couldn't really argue with no knowledge of these sort of things), does anyone know if this is right?

cheers for any input

regards

Try HonestJohn Vart, their forums are a wealth of useful stuff, but to my mind, if it's not in the contract, then it is a grey area. Any communial space can always cause issues, but I'd look through the orig letting agreement to see what it said about it.

After trying to be amicable about it, if that fails to bring a solution, ask the gentleman in question which law he is quoting, or if he has any cases or rulings to back up his suggestion. It may be the landlord isn't keen on such, but then again he may be ok with it.

I'm not sure its illegal but I can understand other tenants concern about having a bike with a tank full of petrol in the hall way,

my mum used to make me empty the tank on my BSA when I bought it in the kitchen to rebuild the engine

I can see no reason why it would be against the law, but the rules on fire safety and rented properties can be strict.

I have no idea how much fuel a bike holds, but a house is filled with just as much flamable materials like alchohol, wooden furnature and paper...

this is what i said, how often do cars and things just explode? anyway, i played 'conservation' and cleared a load of weeds and stuff around the back of the place to leave it and bought a tarp to keep the rain off. just amazes me at the pettyness of some people.

cheers for input
