Hi there from Australia
G'day to all,
Iam a long time Volvo 240 driver and fixer, and I am restoring and modifying a 164E as well, but my little brother bought a 360GLT a couple of days ago, and seeing as I will be the one that fixes it, I though it was a good idea to come here and find out what I can about them.
I have only had one little drive in it so far, but tomorrow I will be pinching it to take into work and see how it goes. It is a 120km round trip with a mix of gravel, tarmac, motorway and city driveing so it should give the old girl a bit of a workout!
It has some minor problems that I will be asking about in due course, as and when I define them a bit better.
Cheers everyone!

You would like my trip to work.
About 500m of level gravel from my house to a nice little 2km twisty gravel hillclimb, followed by about 28 km of country tarmac highway with lots of lovely hills and sweepers ( and kangaroos to dodge at night ) then a roughly 7km stretch of 80kmh slow stuff past Hobart Airport, including two stretches of causeway about a km long each over Pittwater, then there is about 18km of divided motorway followed by about 5km of city traffic.
Then tonight the whole thing in reverse
It's about 60km or so each way, and usually I do it in around 45 minutes but if you promise not to tell anyone, I might or might not have done it in 35 once........in a huge lard-arsed automatic Ford Falcon
Then again, No Comment............

Oh, right I hadn't expected it there at all, I thought it'd be further back, in the recess behind the handbrake.
I guess there's no need in Aus for heated seats (which would go where you've got the lighter)

Nah, whe's not jacked up, probably has a bit of front sag but mostly it is sitting on a slight incline.
I think the rear axle tube is a little bent as it seems to have excessive negative camber up the back, and chews the inside of the back tyres.
Of course it doesn't help the poor tyres that it is so balanced and easy to drift around gravel roads ( and I happen to live on a gravel road with a lovely 2 mile twisty hillclimb to the highway...... ) but they are crappy retread anyhow, so BURN 'EM UP is what I say....
He got it for $700 with 3 months reg and a complete second car that has no reg but is in better condition apart from a busted torque tube we think. And a bend rear axle.
We have since been offered another one with a blown head gasket and smashed side windows (vandal kids) for $400 and have been thinking that 2 out of 3 might be a nice option.....if I can talk Mum into allowing another car on the property ( not likely) or find somewhere else to do it..........I will have enough trouble if I get the 242GT I am looking at, let alone drag home another 360 with broken windows..........we will see.
jim wants to strip off all exterior trim and badges, lower it, fit bigger wheels, remove the line from the grille and just fit a prancing moose badge, and paint it black......although I reckon matte black is the only black finish that will look alright as it is not 100% perfect panels..........
Funny enough it sooms to lack power steering. I though all GLTs had power??
The rack is stuffed anyhow, or at least the LHs balljoints on it are which is the main suspenc for a nasty vibration above 90kmh ( although it does go away mostly by 120 kmh but seems to come back again around 140......) and the shocks are totally rooted.
It leaks water, I think from the head gasket join which probably means the small welsch plugs are rusted..........so it might get a B21 or 23 before too long.
I want one with megasquirt and B23E with K cam.........would be fun!
