Now it did happen =:-O

Suddenly I remembered first time I was in 340. Year was 1985, I believe it was winter time because of snow, my father had to use car from friend as his was under some repair.

It happens to be that car was 340 vario, brown in colour and of course 3 door version, I think it was Mk II car, but that was so long time ago that can't really remember that well, however I remember feeling when I sat in back seat, it felt really nice car, even my father disliked from it quite a lot.

I was 10 back then so naturally could not drive thing and my understanding from cars was rather limited :P

It just did pop to my head from somewhere now and decided to share it with you

Hm, when was I first aware of the 300-series? I didn't grow up with Volvos at all, so I guess I'm a bit of a late starter. A neighbour of ours had one when I was a boy and I remember being very sceptical when he said he'd been stopped for speeding at 100mph. "In that? No way!", I thought. It was MkII 360 saloon in light green. In retrospect I should apologise for doubting his car's possibilites :-) If he's still alive that is, as with many 300 owners of the day, he was rather old.

The first time I sat in one was about 15 years ago, in my girlfriends' inherited '81 343. My first impressions weren't that great - on my first drive it felt underpowered, noisy and the gearknob kept coming off. Not long after though, we packed it up to the roof and went off for a long weekend to Amsterdam in it. I think liked it from then on, we ended up keeping it for a long time ...

For some reason, my daughter seems to manage to pull the grear knob off in her car nearly every time she drives....it stays on for everyone else though. lol

EDIT: I think it's got something to do with the white-knuckle-death-grip....tee hee
