I see picture taking a form here, those FWD things seem to be rather dangerous:

That I saw yesterday on straight tarmac road that is very good condition too, those seem to have habit of turn tires towards sky, so I better stay clear of such cars.

Yes it seems so. Atleast i am going to back good old RWD. At the moment it seems that i trade my 740 to a 525 BMW. I didn't never like the Golf but it was very light on fuel... And it is really worth of staying clear of those things..

Considered the 525 TDS SE? 145bhp and 40-50mpg depending on what you do with it. Good solid straight six TD with intercooler (That's the S bit).

They came with the E34 and the E39. E39 is a bit prettier and a bit smarter, E34 is more rugged and very cheap.

It is petrol one and E34 (maybe 27-29 mpg). Can't afford a E39 at the moment... And those E34 525 TDSs are bit heavy on fuel. Bit like the 740 or 940 TDic about 7 to 9 liters diesel per 100 km. its about 30mpg. So i would have to drive very much to cover the diesel tax because those cars aren't really lightest ones. Also next january i have to spend at least half year in the army so there is really no need for diesel car just yet. And if i would buy one it must have AC, leather interior and electric windows. But again can't afford one at the moment. Mostly because i haven't paid the golf yet..

E34 is pretty, but E49 ugly as elephanth's arse to my eye

Finding good one however starts to be challenging, BMW tends to be car that gets wrong persons attention and often they are beaten quite well, serviced badly, or then just have ton of miles in them.

Some day I might get 200X year 530D, if I ever get over my dislike of modern car designs, how they look and how they drive is just something I cant get hang of at all.

I had different numbers (like I said, 40-50mpg), if what you're saying is true - I'm going to have to rethink my Volvo 360 replacement - AGAIN!

I read that from Total BMW magazine May 2005. There is buying guide for E34 diesels. But if you meant E39 it may have more advanced injection system than E34. But diesel terms are still bit mystery for me even if they are written in finnish and english terms are not much better.

I also think that E34 is good looking and E39 isn't bad either if equipped with decent bodykit.
I would like to own one day those new 535Ds. Standard tune its about 280? bhp with chip over 300 and top speed is about 270-280Km/h Shame that its going to be restricted with speed limits..

Yes sometimes but... Considering driving capabilities of average Finn those speed limits are not bad thing...
