Hello Everyone...

Post by Baba » 25 Jul 2008 10:04 am

Hi Guys,

Picking up my volvo 340 1.7 this Sunday. I am really looking forward to it.

It will be a new experience for me as I have been drifting a 300BHP S13 for the last 4 years.

Bought the Volvo so I can learn to drive without having the luxuries of power, coilovers, handbrake etc.

Hope to learn a lot from you guys and will also be needing your advice for modifying the suspension on a budget.

Thanks :)

Hi guys,

I bought it so I can use it for S1 rather than my S13.

It has a welded diff and is lowered but still very boaty.

What can I do to stiffen it for cheap? Any tramp mods? lol

Btw heres a few vids and pics of the car I took today :D

well for the Rear you can use Front Shocks of a Landrover Defender £30 for a pair.
For the front change the springs, but this can leave with comedy bounce on the front. In order to sort this i have drained my struts of there shock oil and replacing it with EP80 Gearbox Oil. (apparently not possible on some non OEM Shocks) but they are not back on the car yet. so not sure how well its going to work.

I will let you know how i get on.

Cheers mate. Thats great info. Is it possible to fit springs from a heavier car on the front?

I Think the 360 springs fit, I got some from Dai (classicswede) the stiffest ones he did and "3 shorter.

I take it your current shocks are currently standard ones but chopped?

You can fit rear 240 springs, had that on mine before i bought a set from Dai. The springs from Dai are the best ones I have tried but he is not an easy man to contact these days...
Or springs from sierra would work

Wow cool mate. Am I right in thinking those springs are for the rear? They go just above the leaf spring right?

My suggestion was to try them on at front;)

Just found out that both escort and sierra springs will fit at front. So I am going to try a set of sierra lowering springs on my 360 daily drive next week, ill let you know if it became stiff enough!
