The bloke RAC windscreens sent me was really good, he was a time served fitter who knew his stuff, apparently one of the other younger guys had decided not to come out as he had only worked bonded screens. I'd already explained the fact that the trim was not available from the dealer, should it be broken being removed or refitted it wasn't going to be easy to get!
It did take them three attempts to get out to me with a screen though, from what I remember one turned up scratched at their depot, another got chipped or broken, the third arrived ok though! They then mislaid my cheque to them and started getting snotty that I hadn't paid until I pointed out on my receipt that they had a copy of, it said payment received as a cheque by the fitter!
They did do a good job, but it is a bit hit and miss as to who you get, as with most things.
Pete

Well, having taken half a day off work for the RAC to come round and fit the screen, they turn up, not only with a green tinted one (all my glass is clear), but a dirty great big scratch across it
To be fair to the fitter, who seemed genuinely interested in the car, he said that even if the screen was in good condition, he would be reluctant to fit it, as he knew it would look a bit silly, with all the other windows being clear. What he did do for me though, was give me the number of a small local firm, who could supply and fit a screen for £80 plus vat, which is exactly what I did, saving £20 on the RAC quote !
Fingers crossed, they hope to get it in early next week, and I've also hopefully got the other little bits I need winging their way from Essex very soon (cheers Jay )

Finally got my screen fitted today
£80 all in, and the fitter did a great job. This pic also shows what a shine you can get from 20 year old paint, using Autoglym's paint renovator.
Just need a few more little bits, which are winging their way from Essex as we speak (cheers agin Jay), and It's MOT time

Looking good!
Looks like the trim stayed in one piece ...

Well she passed her MOT with flying colours, and on the way home, the brake servo stopped working
On closer inspection, I found that the servo pipe had collapsed internally, so my initial search was to GSF in Apsley, who unsurprisingly don't stock them anymore On my way home from work, I popped into Wendover motor spares, and picked up new HT leads, plugs, oil/air/fuel filters, dizzy cap and rotor arm, along with a length of servo hose, which I cut to fit, and hey presto........brakes again
I also did the service, and found that 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the base of the air filter were kapput, so it's either locktite or a new tap
looking forward to putting a few more miles on her, and I hope Dai gets back soon, as I've got to do something about the ride quality
