A while back when my daily metro expired (bought as a stopgap while I tracked down parts for my lovely 30k Vario), I thought "bollix to this, I'm sticking to 340s".
So it was onto ebay and shock horror, there was one about 10 miles away. Off I went for a look, and it was rough, really rough. But I bought it anyway because it had a year's MOT (blind/bribed/pikey tester) so I thought I could just run it until that ran out. Sorry about the low quality pictures, cameraphone and various challenging light conditions.
So I did, until a spring cup failed:
Then as soon as I'd swapped a strut in, the other side went, and after inspecting it some of the subframe metal was paper thin.
I just stripped the bugger, here are some shots that you may find distressing (if you're distressed by rust).

Then I wanted the transaxle out, last time I did this it was a massive pain due to restricted space. I had a cuppa and a solution hit me:
I've got a lot of spare parts now, this bugger donated its passenger side window and whole lock set when some lovely person took my CD player:
Anyhow I weighed it in for nearly £100 and with all the spares I think I've come out on top.
