Considering a Volvo 340 CVT as a replacement.

But tax considerations may rule it out on grounds of cost, (New VRT scheme in Ireland) unless it over 30 years old.
Over
here is my other posting regarding emissions data.
Please look at my posting over at the
DOC forum which explains the need for this replacement and urgent requirement for another car, which need to be a turn-key and not a project. (not for the faint-hearted)
Thanks,
Rich

Can't remember if I said on Pop Classics mate, but I'm sorry to hear it. I might know of a CVT, I'll ask about it.

Well I've been pondering all day and a sub-30 year old car would cost me €1000 more to bring in than a classic. So I've scrapped the idea.
Bought something that appears to tick all the boxes for getting to work. Collecting it next week.
Let it be a reminder that even the most basic of extra security probably could have prevented this.

Thiefs are becoming more stupid every day, stealing 66 and driving into something with it is perhaps next to setting themselves to fire at idiotic scale.
At this rate they luckily run out of brain capacity and are soon unable to open even doors that are not locked, we must keep hoping of this.
But that car of yours is really sad sight now, such car that can't be replaced by any amount of money

Well they didn't drive straight into it, they lost it exiting the roundabout, slid diagonally across the wide central reservation and clobbered one of the few items in the middle.
It's sad that the ability to drive RWD cars is fast disappearing.
Thinking back, it did have a nearly full tank of petrol in it and I only pondered today "why didn't it go up". I'm surprised it didn't as if they ruptured a fuel line then the Facet pump in the rear wouldn't have stopped pumping if the electric supply to it was still live - I was a lazy man and didn't get round to fitting an inertia cut-out switch.

I feel incredibly sorry for you there chap, but to echo other comments, lets hope the thieving scum are in severe agony. I had my van stolen recently, I just wish the brake pipe had burst at 80 mph, where they'd damaged it when they ran into something. Whatever the insurance company offer will no doubt be a complete and utter joke, so fight your corner!

"Joy" riding scum. Can't they just go and jump off a bridge or something if they want kicks, why to they have to ruin someone's pride and joy
