B172 clutches NLA
Just been getting some hinge pins and wheel hub bolts from the stealers, and it turns out they don't do clutches for 1.7s any more. Is this recent?
Also, where does this leave you if you want to fit an F series valver?

Buy a non genuine clutch although beware for anyone buying a clutch from ebay, if it says it fits a 440 series car aswell as the 300 steer clear as the release bearings are totally different so its not possible.
I run a techniclutch clutch in mine although it wasnt cheap, i went for it for the warranty point.

I could, at least in theory, get some B172 clutch kits from the local non-genuine parts dealer. Although even then it's not cheap - for the clutch disc + bearing, 99.90 eur for earlier models up to chassis no. 120999 (55 mm bearing); 128.00 eur for later models from chassis no. 121000 on (80 mm bearing).
Heck, I even decided to try ordering a couple CVT clutch discs and bearings through them; if it works, the set will be a bit less than 70 eur in total... and if it doesn't, at least I tried.

Tee hee, indeed, at least I tried. I got the bearings, but not the clutch discs. I even got a reason: the importer was out of stock so it would be a factory order - with a minimum order of 100 discs ... yes, sure, the price would be right, but what on earth would I do with 100 clutches? I'm not really used to this kind of obsolescence. From the same aftermarket parts shop I can still get many kinds of parts for e.g. Volvo Amazon and even PV544. Some 300-series parts are still available but there's definitely more stuff in stock for early 240s, for example.nomead wrote:Heck, I even decided to try ordering a couple CVT clutch discs and bearings through them; if it works, the set will be a bit less than 70 eur in total... and if it doesn't, at least I tried.
