hi all n00b here
hi, iv just recently bought a 1991 volvo 340GL with 39k on the clock....always fancied 1 since my father had 1 years ago...and after seein a few pics online of them lowered on PHat rims i was sucked in further lol...anyway sorry iv no pics of the old girl jus yet tho i should get to take some tomarrow an might hav them posted on sunday as im for a birthday party on saturday night
so....first of my many many many questions
does any one have a pic or photochop of a 5dr grey 340 lowered nicely on ATS classics?? this is wat iv pictured in my head an id love to see if it works in reality
and now how would i go about doing that?? iv read quiet abit on here already...about how mk1/2 escort blocks are used and landrover shocks... but does anything have to be done to the axle?? my friend lowered his VW caddy and said he had to flip the axle...is that the same case here?? and what springs fit the front?? id love to simply cut them to the level i want but as 340s are pretty scarce over here and the local N.Y.P.D know all about cut springs
thanks for reading my story hope i can atleast keep you all entertained wile im here as i aint got much on 340 info....but ask me about vauxhall novas ( and please dont render me a chav cause i love novas il post a quick pic of my ideal nova an im pretty sure it by all means aint 'chavvy' )
and this is a close 2nd
oh and for anyone offering a quick photochop and dosen't know wat ats classics look lik, heres some on a cool dub
and heres a quick pic of my current motor...a 1990 mercedes 190E...its for sale now as im after a low an slow volvo
thanks again guys!!

Hello & Welcome to the volvo 300 madhouse that is V3M
Sounds like a nice motor you got there..39k
springs, Dai on here (classicwede) sells em to spec and lowering blocks and lots of other goodies, but he's got very busy latly best thing to do if you need any bits would be to pm/ email him.
there are some good photo shopers on here, but iam not one lol iam sure someone's done 1 though.
with nova's its not so much the fact its a nova is the fact its FWD nova's chavvey? depends really, not all are
ya shouldent get too much abuse as most peeps here have FWD shopping trolleys as daily drivers including me

seriously though ,
the guy to talk to about lowering is classicswede on here , trouble is he is mega busy a lot of the time
As far as I know all you have to do to lower the rear is fit the escort blocks between the springs and the axle using longer bolts (I think its M10's for strength ) but someone who has done the job will advise you better.
In the mean time have a look in the tech section.

yay!! im popular
yeah redline iv read about the MKI/II escort lowering blocks and landrover 90 front shocks too... its the front thats my main concern as getting a 2nd hand set of springs would be next to impossible as id says its been 3 years since i last seen a 340 on the roads over here...and the police know the score with cutting springs too...so replacement lowering springs is wat id need...
well the nova thing goes wayyy back for me and i know the FWD thing is a let down...but the fact that a road legal weight of sub 600kgs is possible...coupled to 160-180 N/A bhp should shock a few people an make me smile for many many days
as for daily drivers...heres my mercedes 190 doin what she does best

please excuse my friends OOhh Ahhhh's....twas a rather cold night
thanks guys!!

no way!! far too heavy for such a small car ( without power steering too ) leaves them not fit to handle well at all...nose pushy alot...a well tuned 1.6 with the right weight savings will see me sit close to turbo novas on the straight but destroy them in cornersgerm wrote:2.0 redtop? ..................TURBO
