Some pictures required please :)

Post by cheshire190e » 10 Oct 2008 12:40 pm

Hi everyone,

This may be a long shot but does anyone have any pictures of a carb from a 1.7 440.

The reason i ask is its the same engine as the 340 so thought the carb could be a straight swap with a bit of a bhp gain.

Cheers

Matt

They are the same engine, 340cbr did teh carb swap a while back. According to the green books (this is from memory, it was a few months ago I looked) the cams are the same, carbs are the same, the only difference was the jetting on the second throttle.

im thinking block wise. Maybe it went the renault style later on in its production. as the last 1.7 400 series i looked at had the same style of block as the f7p in m current volvo 16v and looked nothing like the 1.7 block in a 340 that ive seen a lot lately as ive been ripping them apart locally for sumps n so on.

The blocks are all the same family so it wont be a problem.

It is not about look, but character

Even blocks may be quite different, if same manifold bolts in, same carb bolts in, if manifolds don't fit carb can still fit as bolt pattern is perhaps same.

Issue with cables and such is often one greater concern, throttle cable pulley can be another side of carb, but if it has same model carb that is perhaps not so much of problem, chances are that pulleys and levers are in same places.

BX 1.9 carb is also Solex Cisac Z-series, same goes to many PSA cars, there are differences on some, automatic choke for example, but I would be very interested to test such carb in my 360 :)
