my volvo's 1.4 & 1.7 340 (pic heavy) lol

hi all
i figured that i have been here long enough now and its about time i showed you all my cars (beware this will be quite a large post )

this was my 1.4 when i first got it in january this year, my poor dad and my friend had to travel to london to get it




then with a spoiler, exhaust and renault meane alloys (they were free)


yes thats a motor bike exhaust lol

and my L plates lol
i have passed my test now though

then with black bonnet, all chrome stips on bumpers and grill painted black and painted the very faded back bumper matt black too



and all indicators tinted (i know its illegal but its done now)




then i bashed the front




and the dai springs fitted

and my k&n

no grill


and my new winter project parked along side my dads drift beast lol






and some rust that needs adressing

i did'nt think tinted indicators were illegal, as long as they still shine orange when there used :S

your right there as long as the light still can shine through in its original colour there not illegal or failable on MOT

no progress so far just thot id update anyways
well the red one lost the clutch when my dad picked it up
so i had to tow it home with the 1.4 for about 3 miles lol
what a struggle

but anyways and new clutch is ordered so there should be more piccys soonish
and excuse the chavvy looking wheels on the white one.. i am only 17 lol and its my first car and they were free

right some real progress!!!!!

so on the 19th of december it was my 18th birthday and i had to go to work for a half day, i got up to go to work got outside and into my beloved 1.4 340 turned the key and nothin........
so i was less than amused but thought nothing of it and got my dad to give me a jump and away it went.

then at 12.30 it was time to go home again
got to the volvo and turned the key and nothin..... once again

so got on the phone to my dad for a jump again as everyone had left my work and gone home.

so i got home and my mum had a surprise for me... they had insured the 1.7 340 for me i was soooo happy. so i took my girlfriend out for a meal then we were on the way back to mine when ........ PING!!!! grind grind grind! oh FFS!!!!!!!!!!! the bottom spring seat had collapsed!!!!
AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

so i then had 2 volvos which were of no use what so ever.
as you can imagine i had really lost all faith in anythiong swedish at this point.

so the next day i set about swapping all my lowered suspension from the 1.4 to the 1.7
then i got some proper use out of it.

so one night i decided to go to my local industrial estate and get used to drifting my new lowered 1.7 but it wouldnt the second it went sideways and gave it gas it just coughed and spluttered.

NOT CHUFFED!!!
but i thought well at least it still drives no problem.
then 2 days ago my exhaust snapped!!!!
that was it i offiailly hated my 1.7 and wanted to use my 1.4 agen
as i am really attached to it cos its my first car and it has character

so i told my dad that i wanted to swap the 1.7 into my 1.4 and asked for his help...... he said "do what you want but im not touchin it!"
but im not handy eonugh with the spnners to swap an engine not by my self anyways.

now present day (today) lol my dad got my up at 11.30
for what i was lead to believe to sort my exhaust (as he is an awesome welder) but when we got both volvos to his friend workshop he imediatly started stipping engine components then it clicked!!!
ENGINE SWAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



so we got both engines out and the 1.7 into the 1.4 shell and it is running ( a bit poorly but its better than nothing)

and it drifts with out coughs!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

thats it for today. all that needs done now is swap all my lowered suspesion back over to the white one and get it running right
and we never bothered makin the fuel lines longer we just rerouted them thorough the driver side chassis leg

well my rear whhel bearing was whining so i decided i would change it... but the car had other ideas...
driveshaft came off ok, as did the nut that holds the rear hub on
so i got some pullers and proceeded to split the 2 sections of hub to get to the bearing
i ended up breaking 2 sets of pullers
so my dad went away and made a big slide hammer contraption the bolts onto the hub using the wheel nuts
2 hours of battering the living crap out of it later and still nothing
the only thing i achieved was destroying the bearing
so i decided to swap axles with my parts car
so ill post plenty of pics up later

and since my last update my wee beastie now has a white mountney steering wheel and the spotlights from the the red car

hello all
i have a few pic heavy updates for you lucky people lol
i have done a few bits and pieces since my last update.
i have just been taking my time and doing things right
well first big change is the welded diff!! and im shocked they are awesome!!!
any ways pics!!!




just a few images when i was bored the night before my first drift day
the car took the abuse all day long and made there and back under its own steam
i am well happy the it
they are awesome cars
when i got to the drift day i had all the jdm lovers laughing at the volvo but i had some stickers made up

they didnt like that one lol

some of the things i have done
painted rocker cover (i as very bored)


fitted some ford rs recaros £70 from ebay including postage and not bad condition too
and a harness (could only afford one lol)



fitted a rev counter and a volt gauge (freebies) and a bright red switch for my spotlights
and the mountney wheel and 205 boss (£20 from a panel beater at my work)



i took heaps and heaps of pics so there is a lot more to come
