Thanks Jay. Do you have any close-up pictures of the panel? I'm not bothered about the lights, particularly...I have several spare sets. It sounds very much like the condition of the green one I have, so I'm sure we could do a swap there.
I'm perfectly happy to swap like-for-like condition-wise...however, given that my yellow one is (if memory serves...) just about perfect, I'd have to factor in the cost of having my bodywork guy make one of the 'imperfect' ones 'perfect' to replace it.
How about you get hold of it, Shimon, and we can sort it out when you come here for the the engine.
cheers
James

To be honest chaps, and no offence Jay, that one is going to need attention / respray before I'd want to use it anyway, so I may as well stick with one of the ones I have and keep things simple.
Latest problem...the one set of keys I had for it have gone AWOL. Grr! I'm putting a post in 'general' on that subject...
cheers

There's an interesting post over in one of the German Volvo forums.foggyjames wrote:Oh...and while I'm here...inspiration (thanks to Tom for the images I butchered to make this lovely montage )
This from a brochure for the Oettinger kit for the 343...spoilers (front and rear), rims and 1.6 (stroker) engine conversion. I have the front spoiler and rims. I also have a head from an Oettinger car, but it's damaged...and I suspect it's the same as a normal B14 head anyway!

The 343 Oettinger - an "inglorious basterd" thenrennelch wrote:340 Oettinger, oh yes, that existed once.
A special series in 1980, 50 were built, reconstructed in Oettinger Friedrichsdorf by order of Volvo Deutschland. The B14 was rebuilt to 1600 cm³ by swapping the crankshaft for one with more stroke. Using different pistons and connecting rods, the specified power output was increased to 85 PS, otherwise nothing was changed.
The whole conversion was a disaster. The power output was far too optimistic. a well-tuned B14 was just as fast. Due to construction errors the engine drank over 3 litres of oil per 1000km from the very beginning.
ALL were later modified, the valve guides were refitted with BMW valve seals (the guides were re-cut for this) and the oil scraper ring channel (?) in the the pistons were drilled in for they had stupidly forgotten the drainage holes.
I had to deal with the lot of them. The dealers sent me the pistons and the cylinder heads, which I had to rework to reduce the oil consumption down to a normal measure. I still have the cutting bit today.
I don't believe any of the series still exist today. all were gradually built back to a „normal“ B14. The project would have been interesting, had the rest of the set-up (carburettor, exhaust, camshaft) been changed as well.
When the B19 was introduced, the project quickly died an inglorious death.
