Oh...and while I'm here...inspiration (thanks to Tom for the images I butchered to make this lovely montage )
This from a brochure for the Oettinger kit for the 343...spoilers (front and rear), rims and 1.6 (stroker) engine conversion. I have the front spoiler and rims. I also have a head from an Oettinger car, but it's damaged...and I suspect it's the same as a normal B14 head anyway!
cheers
James

You're welcome I've got another Mk1 brochure of the 343 Touring special edition, it came out a year after the Oettinger and also has front and rear spoilers and interesting decals. A bit like an Oettinger without the engine kit. It was available in metallic brown and silver.foggyjames wrote:Oh...and while I'm here...inspiration (thanks to Tom for the images I butchered to make this lovely montage )
EDIT: and red too, it seems
I'll see if I can get some scans done.
Cheers
Tom

hello
nice 343 James! Yep, i'm lined up for the silver nose cone from Jay but as it is in silver it is the wrong colour for my dad's 343 and also my friends blue one.....so yep, I'm ok with you having the silver one from Jay as its the right colour for you and I'll swap for one of your other ones. Dunno how costs will work though.... was meant to be collecting some stuff from Jay later this month including the nose cone.
i'd be looking for a good one as its to swap a damaged one on a 343.....you got a gooden.....
in the original photos I thought your car had been fitted with a brown nose cone
Im still up for that 2E engine. It's just my usual car for collecting stuff is now off road. I could sort a hire van out at some point to come collect it.
best regards
shimon

I'd like the same problem please.. if I would have a place to keep more cars.
MK1s are the best.
Something like Gordini engine would be indeed perfect for that car.
Something similiar as here maybe

Note how the spoilers and decals are the same as those used on the Oettinger. They even used the same pic of the silver car, and just photoshopped (or whatever they did in those days) "touring" on the front spoiler
Metallic brown - a great 70s colour - and you don't notice the rust so much

Gordini engine is a very tempting possibility I hadn't considered. This B14 has only 11k on it, which makes me tempted to continue using it...but a Gordini swap could be a long-term plan. I know Nick Cleak has one in his yellow 343.
I'm also not sure whether or not to swap out the M45 for an M47. I think perhaps I'll leave it as it is. I quite like the gear spacing on the original (short diff) M45.
Shimon...I think you, me and Jay should have a chat. How good is the silver nose cone Jay has? I have a light metallic green one which is pretty good, but needs a little work. Likewise, the original on my 343 is generally clean, but will need some TLC before too long. I do have a 'perfect' one...and it's even in the right colour for your Dad's car (which makes it all the more tricky)...but I suspect you'll not want to pay what I'd want for that one. Let's see how good Jay's one is, and take it from there.
cheers
James
