Personally, I'd like Nissan to buy out Volvo.
The plants is down the road at Washington and I could really do with a job with a practical staff discount.

Merc would be best buyer, in my point of view too, specially that parts availability, but they are not perhaps very interested from Volvo, maybe only if they could close it down so there would be one competitor less on market, but Volvo can't really offer much to Merc.
If world would be different, then Merc would aquire Volvo and start making RWD Volvos, that would be very good, but it is pure fantasy that will never happen in real world.

After what happened with Chrysler, and with other companies which once belonged to the DC group, I also think Merc buying Volvo is unrealistic. That was just me dreaming
But I did hear once BMW is interested. That would be second best for me, they also have a "mobile tradition" devision. Audi on the other hand has still much catching up to do. There are big spare parts problems with older Audis (the V8 for instance).

Well, they seem to have got their money:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/1 ... 50150.htmlThe Swedish government on Thursday unveiled a 28 billion kronor ($3.4 billion) support package for the nation's ailing auto industry, but insisted it won't buy Volvo or Saab from their U.S. owners.
