VOC 300 Rally 2005

Post by JOHN360 » 29 Dec 2004 11:24 am

Ted Brown & myself are thinking of re-instating the 300 rally which hasn't been run for a couple of years & was last held at Shrewsbury.

As Ted lives nr Middlesboro' & I live at Harrogate, we are thinking of the Elvington Air museum near York which has good facilities & plenty of space. The dates would either be the end of May or the begining of August.

The actual line up would of course be VOC members only, but anyone can come along to chat etc etc & if anyone has any bits to sell, bting them along ! We are thinking of 3 classes ; standard 300, modified 300 & open.

Btw, what would people prefer - specfic judges or members to judge cars ?

Let me have your comments.

Cheers,

John.
Current : No 300's anymore !

I'm with Hugh on this one, my car's not going to win any prizes :)

Although if this goes ahead members judging cars sounds a better idea to specific judges.

Hi John,
Sounds like a good idea. I'm not a member of the VOC, but more support or interest in the 300 series may persuade me to join! I know a couple of other members on here are also VOC members (can't remember who though!).
I think members to judge cars is the best approach, as they may have more experience of the models and know what to look for specific to the 300's.
Pete

Its not the winning that matters its taking part ,I think any opportunity to show off our cars has got to be a good thing , If we gave a damn what other people outside the V3M thought we wouldn't be driving 300's in the first place , To quote a certain members catchphrase DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

i think i should give an explanion to me thinking its a daft idea

1/ the way i understand it is we can go if we want but we cant participate is that right

2/ from wot ive herd the 340/360 is considered "not a real volvo" by the voc so why we should support them is beyond me

what benifits do you get from being a member of the voc i mean is it worth being a member?

i would much rather participate in the event

if ive got this all wrong please somone enlighten me!!

Alright , we might just get up the VOC's noses so much that eventually they will have to recognise the 300

i think jon just wants this cos he's going to win :P

the voc wouldnt all be there unless the date/place was the same as another meet.

Nah, don't be too hard on them, it was throught the VOC I got my alloys, and my front grill, and whenever I've spoken to the guys they always seem friendly enough, even if my 300 ain't stock. We just need to help them come to the right way of looking at cars ;)

i dont doubt that they are a freindly bunch but i think our little community on here is growin at a great rate let them come and join this commuinity

i dont think its on that they wont let us participate in there events

this is just my limited opinion (you know freedom of speech)
