for sale - FEELER

Post by pyro » 14 Dec 2008 12:54 pm

evening all, this is a bit of a hasty decision but --

maybe for sale due to trying to feed another obsession!! LANDROVERS!!

Volvo 360 GLE
rear speakers
fog lights
hella grille
6 gauge dash
F -reg
4 nice tyres
red ryders on the back (far better over the standard ones)
mot till august
tax till end of febuary march

this gorgeous lump of sweden has never let me down, and i will be sad to see it go (if) it has a cd player (might be staying in im not sure) or it has the origninal volvo onei nthe glove box...

teh only bit i can think of that are wrong with it are

1 spot of bubbleing on the passenger door - hasnt changed in the 3 years ive had it...

has had some welding done on the rear left sill, done to a good standard through a guy that i trust and a fellow 300 lover...

as i said just a feeler, but i mgiht be getting this - :(

i dont really want to sell the volvo as i love it to bits and its never let me down. but im starting to drive like a 'n*b head' cos i know exactly how it will handle and what it will take. ive had it for 3 years and it might be time for a change.

anyone think its worth 650? with all the bits on it?

also with starting my careeer in tree surgery i need sumamt a bit more robust for off roading and towing...

ben :(

You do not want to know how much I'd pay-I'm half pikey apparently

More to the point what's your feelings on a Husqie 254xp-thinking of getting a 2nd hand one-any input appreciated.

from what im aware of the 354 they arent bad, thoguh i think they share some of the problems of the 357xpg (what ive got) as the carbs on them have some issues and need retuning fairly often. from talking to other tree workers, they dont like huskys cos they are to 'plasticy' stihls are prefered but the viration mountings on them are perishable rubber and arent as good ats the husky.
from what i remember the huskt vibration dampers work in x,y,z axis, wehre as the stihl works only in X,Y axis.

there is a good forum i use - arbtalk.com which has loads of useful info on it.

hope thats usefull!

Lucky escape IMHO.
Slow in fact so incredibly pedestrian on steep climbs cyclist will pass you, suspension designed to send ya to a Chiropractor,heater-non existant, chassis suffers from electrolysis or generally falls out,etc,etc...............

Highly over-rated junk IMHO.

Get a Yank-facelift Cherokee 4.0 for 6 or one that uses the devils fuel from 7 up over every thing a series isn't.

Back to your car 4-I would reckon for a quickish sale,5 if you can hang out a bit longer.
Only really competively priced stuff is shifting.
Surprised that series went, sure he didn't weigh it in?

Bit unfair, although true about them being slow - but only soft southerners need heaters :P

I must admit to being very fond of LR's, although I'd probably go for a Defender as it's a bit more practical for everyday road use.

I hear that the 300tdi is the one to go for - any thoughts on that pyro?

i only went for a series cos i can afford the insurance, and it would be used off road so its perfect, better than the jeep sh*te that was mentioned haha

insurance on a seris 3 was 600 ish, defender/disco 1300.

defenders are nice and i would have one, but as i said insurance and the inital cost of it. ive got a series 2a lightweight atm (the rare one) thats being restored. as for speed, im not bothered, im no rush to get anywhere! im looking at one at the minute thats got the 2.5 na in it. series 3 again massive winch lights, sus lift etc and the heaters on series 3 are better due to not been a recirc only. they have a proper heater box under the bonnet.
and if i get a series ive got somthing to ompare my lightweight too when i get that done eventuially!

Never had one before have you?Thought not.
Pound for pound best value 4x4 by far.

Still all you landy boys can gather for a group hug to keep warm.
Defender is the only one I would consider but the yuppies love 'em so consequently highly over priced.

Seriously, you'd be better off with a Lada Niva than a series.

jap and to plasticy, easy to break and not good for slinging stuff in the back without worrying about all the interior. too low, uses more fuel, useless engine, to hard to fix when it goes wrong. landrovers are simple easy to fix and cheap

sven360! consider your self ingored!!

Not keen on Shoguns myself, but do have a soft spot for Toyota Hilux's - they seem indestructible.

Also nothing wrong with the old Jeeps - the WWII Willies Jeeps were great, and really the basis for the first LR's.
