Exhaust's what do you think??

Post by Bazboy » 03 Jan 2009 10:58 pm

Hey guys,

Just wanted to get an idea of what everyones ideas on exhaust's were especially on cars with not a lot of power.

Ive always thought of exhausts being a bit stupid if there overly sized and overly loud and on a car still sporting hub caps, And for these reasons alone i never wanted a loud one, just something which looks nice.

Now over the week i set about making an exhaust with my mate to kill the time and warm us up and it actually took quite a bit of work and time considering the 340's over axel setup.

The almost finished product(still needs adjusting and sealing) looked really good cause its only a small tail pipe which pokes out just below the bumper but when i fired her up she sounded a fair bit louder then id hoped, im hoping this will go a soon as i finish it as it blows a fair bit atm but if it doesn't then im probably going to get another standard back box to bung back on.

But considering the work which went into it i dunno if ill want to revert back lol i think its loud because the rear silencer is pretty small so may just put a larger one on.

But anyways just wanted to get everyones views on modified exhaust's, so i dont turn up to a meet sounding and looking like more of a prat then i usually do :D

Cheers Dan

p.s will bung some pics up tomorrow when i find me camera.

I reckon I'll reserve judgement til the proper photo LOL. Unless it really has a 'Roger Rabbit' half-live action half-cartoon look, in which case I love it.

Erm........... I think I'll wait to see the real pics.
Not quite sure what to make of that artists impression.

Nope left the middle box on, glad i did as i think it would of been mighty loud without lol and i left the bore as it was since it took long enough to just make the back section.

There is a back box but it is quite small, I just really wanted to see what the general consensus on exhaust was? cause i always thought they were frowned apon unless they did something power wise lol. Oh and the artist impression took less then a minute and my photo editing skills are terrible lol

Looks bit similar to what I have in my car:

It actually does sit bit higher now as I managed to weld proper pieces of metal into it so it is not kept place by only with metal wire

David vizard always says 2" of diameter per 100 horsepower is fine if it's a reasonable design.
