Stopping distances of 360/340?
Stopping distances of 360/340?
Does anyone have old car review magazines where would be test of braking distance?
Something like this?
http://www.movit.de/rahmen/stoptbl.htm
Every other piece of such information like skidpad results etc are appreciated

This might be of use, but it was for an early Mk1 340DL, so they may well have uprated some bits later

Re: Stopping distances of 360/340?
Thanks, can't believe I could not remember that one
In 360 they added larger rear drums, also at some point there was change in front brakes, but also car's weight did increase over time, so I would think that distance is quite the same.
Brakes are hard to get right as there are so many factors, heat, tires, brake power, etc. I have brake power however measured from each wheel, just need to get other values set so that it stops in correct distance and also performs authentically under various conditions. Just so little time for all that.
Of course I had to make own test facility for all that too, which took quite some time and always I get ideas for improving so need to build more and more so time goes there and not testing

I've got a printout of a 360 GLT Autocar test from 1982 which Pete posted once.
Is
"Fade (from 78 mph in neutral)
Pedal load for 0.5g stops in lb"
or
"Response (from 30mph in neutral)"
interesting for you? All units are in feet and pounds though

Re: Stopping distances of 360/340?
Sure I'm interested, it does not really matter what units are, I think that I can work out just about any unit there istrabitom99 wrote:I've got a printout of a 360 GLT Autocar test from 1982 which Pete posted once.

lbf - kg/cm² and lbs and Nm/s conversions were not as easy as simple foot and meter, pounds are rather different than damping rate in lbs, which is odd

13 feet is quite good, stops rather well from such slow speed, from very high speed brakes start to heat bit too much, I'm afraid

Thanks Tom
I can work out rough plot of fade from that and use it to get fade much closer to reality
