project B200e turbo

Post by Jimbean » 29 Jan 2009 09:33 pm

Hey all will start a project, so others can learn (hopefully not from my mistakes)

Anywho progress so far bagged my self all the 940 bits from a 2.3 turbo the Turbo, turbo manifold, fuel rail, injectors all for £90 picking them up tommorrow night.

bits left to source are the coil
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lucas-Gold-Sports ... 240%3A1318

If anyone could tell me if that will do the trick?
then the 850 t5 tps and most importantly the megaquirt which im bidding on at the moment.

Still debating weather to buy a different fuel pump and make a fuel cell as the 360 one is no good.

Oh no! Are you ok though? That's the most important thing. Any pics of the damage? Let us know what parts you need fella, hopefully we can get you back on the road soon.
I may go and check my steering damper...

ill take some pictures tommorrow, im going to try and pull the bits from mk2 360 that im scrapping problem is im not sure if the spring rates will be different mines a GLT the other 360 is a mk2 GLS. ill obiously use the exsisting caliper but im not sure all the superglue in the world will put that disc back together!

when i took the hub off the bearing was totally shattered, and ill have to see if i can change the rack to a non power steering one. thanks for the concern everybody.

Really didnt have a good day GF in hospital, my phone ran out of battery when i crashed (thanks AA woman) started running home got picked up had to wait till 12.30 for tears recovery to call me 15min before they turn up so i can get back to my car. 1 oclock i start biking 4 miles up the road on a bike with 2 flat tires (should of ran the bugger) in the freezing cold 2 jumpers 2 t shirts a thermal vest and a thick coat later, and im gagging for a fag  anywho 51st state is on and ive got rum sm4

That sounds hardcore man. The springs will be different from GLT to GLS, but don't worry about it, you'll be wanting to cut them or fit stiffer ones to match the turbo so they'll do fine for a while. Front bearings can still be had, the part numbers are on here somewhere but I can't seem to find them ATM. I have a pair of Halfords discs you can have for the trade price I get them at, or a couple of part-worns off my 340 you can have free.
Was there any bodywork damage? That's the worst to put right.

Oh man, can't you use the bits off your parts car? Looks like fairly simple stuff really, a bit time consuming though.

I have a few 340 struts here if that'll help you keep it.

the 340 strut won't fit a mk3 360! this is because of the mounting for the anti roll bar!

as you found out, the mk2 360 strut has this difference :D because of this only a mk3 360 strut will fit, other option is to fully swap to the mk2 gls front end, including the steering rack.

oh and don't bother straightening this strut, after 6 fully damaged rims on mine, it just ate wheel bearings, they got worn every 5000km. i had them replaced and noticed they were only 0,1mm on the right and 0,8mm on the left out of allignment but still enough to make the bearing wear very hard
