Hello, I'm a new member, my names Scott, and i live in Ashford, Kent,
I have been looking into getting a 340/360 for a little while now
There's not many 3 doors on ebay which I'm after, so I might just have to keep looking. lol
love the site, been looking on it over the last week or so, and it seems a friendly atmosphere.

A little bit about me:
I'm 21, work in asda (although training to be an electrician) and love my fords (although willing to change to Volvo :D)
I had a mk2 xr2, and I now have a focus estate lol which i broke drifting in the snow.

My uncle used to have a 340 when i was a nipper, but it got stolen and burnt out :(

Anyway, I look forward to talking to all of you and fingers crossed i get a nice 3 door yay!

Cheers

Scott

At the risk of being strung up pics ;) though not if it's barried but I love the standard mk1's and 2 now, and seeing a few rally ones too lately.

Thanks for the replies guys :) i'll not specialise in street lighting then, cheers for the heads up lol. I'll get some pics up of the xr soon, when i find them on my pc it's so cluttered with junk n porn lol. Are there any common faults or problems to look out for when buying a 300 series? I've heard that the electrics aren't that great, and sometimes the inlet manifold can warp resulting in a vacuum leak. Just wondering if there's anything else to look out for. :) Scott

Rust on the rear sills... but that's pretty much standard fit unless it's been properly welded up by now :(

Those jacking points can be rusty too, fuel leaks if fuel hoses has not been replaced, in 360 models engine mounts often fail resulting oil pan to rub against beam running accross engine bay at front of engine, that very same beam can be also rusty, then gearbox mounting can rust, there is another beam/piece of metal that corrodes away, gear linkage can get loose below gearstick, needs welding, if solex carb in 360 carb base is prone to warp, needs piece of glass and some fine sanding paper to fix that.

Rust is worse, rust spots around windshield are bad, it can be big repair as if water has got inside it could rust without seeing, very long distances actually, I rememeber someone had to made big part of car's structural body because of that.

Nothing really bad compared to other cars of similar age.
