Car detailing
Car detailing
Now that I've escaped the inner city with its feral children I now have the luxury of my own drive way, double garage etc. I have discovered the joys of such suburban pursuits as polishing my car. I slapped on the turtle wax and it now looks lovely and shiny. So proving the addage that you can indeed polish a turd.
So, what are you guys using on:
1. Exterior trim - bump strips, spolilers etc
2. Those horrible grey bumpers, which should have been black from the start (there was a thread on this recently but I'm lazy)
3. Any other shiny car related products you can think of
Thanks

Re: Car detailing
i'm using silicone valeting gel man.
its clear, works on black plastic i.e. bumpers, wingmirrors, grille, window rubbers, door handles etc.
Also goes onto silver badges and brings them up a treat too.
I'll do some before and after photos once I really get going with it.
Pops had half a gallon in his lock up, and he swears by it, but this stuffs about twenty year old but there must be modern equivelants freely available.

You can order online, or they often have a stand at local car shows. It's good stuff, although the 340's bumpers weren't too bad to start with. The first time I used it, I found that it needed a second coat a week or so later, but then that seemed to last for a fair while.
That's a before and after (below chrome strip treated, above chrome strip not treated)

I got the "FULL CAR CLEANING AND CARE KIT" (in capitals, must be good) from Bilt Hamber. It really does rock

This was taken after the first time I used the stuff, the day after a rally when it was covered in mud, and scratches from the hedges etc. It's magic!

Silicone prevents you from being able to repaint anything forever..(hmm forever..maybe not
) i was told not to use silicone on anything that i ever wanted to keep..
