360 GLT Performance
Hi,
Im struggling to find any performance/fuel consumption specification for my 1988 360 GLT B200E,
what I would like to know is-
1. Top Speed
2. 0-60mph / 0-100kmph
3. Alleged Fuel Consumption
ie. what volvo claimed
Also what you as owners of the same model (not carburettor owners showing off with their fuel consumption) have found with this vehicle.
Cheers
Jason

Re: 360 GLT Performance
You might like to have a look out on the bay for some brochures, the MkIII ones usually go quite cheaply. This one for example:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0071682385
This one is for the '86 model year though which means the figures in it will be for a car running on super unleaded (98 RON) so they might be a little different to your car.
Your car should do 180kph (112mph) on paper, an indicated 190 - 200 kph in practice (but not with treacle oil ).
0-100kph (62.5mph)takes around 11secs. The fastest 0-100kph time Volvo ever quoted for the 360 GLT was 10.5 secs for the 1985 MkII (B200E, 98 RON petrol) period road testers doing 0-60mph times may have bettered this though.
I could give you a few figures for fuel consumption as well, but that'd be in litres/100kms, so probably not much use to you ...

Re: 360 GLT Performance
My old aussie spec 360glt did 182kph down a slight hill, about 174 on the flats, that's from my gps, not the speedo, it used to avarage about 11-12l/100ks around town and do 0-100 in a smidge over 11 seconds.
Re: 360 GLT Performance
I've never measured acceleration.
I get about 25mpg if I cane it on the motorway. About 35mpg on a run on 60mph roads if i keep to the speed limit.
Maximum speed on a gps (speedo reads about 10% over) I've personally seen on the track was 108mph, but would have got more if I'd held my nerve longer.

Re: 360 GLT Performance
One is quite easy to make quicker too.
Mine (was GL made to GLT spec and bit beyond) did 9.6 seconds 0-100kph and that was with 3.36 diff as GLT has 3.64 I believe?

Re: 360 GLT Performance
That's pretty quick! Didn't your car have some other goodies added too though, Jani?
Checked earlier, 11.0 secs is Volvos "official" 0-100kph speed for MkIII 360s. Fuel economy gets progressively worse the more "emission control" stuff is added. B200Es are the best, then the EAs and finally, the F ...
I average 9.5 L/100km with my B200F, best ever was about 6.5 (pootling along country lanes in Poland) and worst 13.5 (not exactly pootling on an empty German motorway on a Sunday morning).

Re: 360 GLT Performance
Hi,
you say 25mpg if you cane it on the motorway, what do you call caning it? and what would you expect at 70mph?
I drive like a grandad, Im hoping to average 28mpg at worst, preferably 30, maybe even 32mpg.
BUT saying that my first car when I was 17 was a 340dl 1.4, in british racing maroon, including 480 turbo alloys, pink bee sting,
gas flowed cylinder head, and sports exhaust, I dont think it was my imagination, but the air filter, exhaust, and flowed head did seem to make a big difference, the only problem it ever had was that the carb would get coked up, this was easily fixed with carb cleaning spray, ANYWAY, my point is that in 2 years and 50,000 miles I never got more than 30 mpg, but I did drive like a seventeen year old ( read T##T ), including one small crash with an XR2i, XR2 died, volvo cost 180 quid for dent pull and respray,
had to go to police station and tell my dad, I was scared, he was fine, mum wasn t so. LOL
Oh crap, Im turning into my dad, sorry Ill stop typing!!!!!!
Cheers

Re: 360 GLT Performance
Well, that's a 10 - 15% increase (forget my maths) so that sounds OK to mejtbo wrote:Well, kind of, K-cam and Megasquirt programmable efi, running both fuel injection and ignition, but nothing major
Full throttle for two hours. OK, maybe lifting off once or twice. But that is a few years ago, now with 314000kms I treat it slightly more gently.Jaspersilus wrote:what do you call caning it?
Doesn't everyone crash when they're 17? One reason why my daughters will drive a 240 diesel or a W124 Merc diesel when they're of age. That is, if I get my wayJaspersilus wrote: Oh crap, Im turning into my dad, sorry Ill stop typing!!!!!!

Re: 360 GLT Performance
~30-35% increase, but I read one V3M member getting better than 40MPG with similar changes to his car, hmmm was it Pete? At old age, memory starts to malfunction

113MPH downhill
108MPH without downhill
19.06-21.38MPG in city
0-62MPH bit over 11 seconds
Re: 360 GLT Performance
You'll get about 30mpg if you don't go past 70 and cruise in light traffic, i reckon. All these old beasts are a little individual though. And I'm basing my figures on a B19E.Jaspersilus wrote:Hi,

Re: 360 GLT Performance
Don't forget UK and US have different gallons, so 11-12 l/100 km is actually 23.5 - 25.7 MPG.jtbo wrote: 19.06-21.38MPG in city

Re: 360 GLT Performance
Oh yes, they indeed have, I just used google search convert function, that gives US gallons then.
