Punishment!!
Changed the oil on my 360 glt today, it took 3 hours to get the oil filter off, terrible access, and would nt budge, if any one knows the designer of this engine, please have a word for me!
Oh and on the subject of fluid renewal, does anyone know how to change the power steering fluid on a 1988 360 GLT, and how much power steering fluid it holds?
Cheers
Jason

Re: Punishment!!
Can't remember oil filter being that badly located, but it is quite some time since I replaced one on mine, several years actually
Power steering fluid should require something that sucks oil out, then pour new stuff in and after running it a while suck more out and pour more in.
Another method involves disconnecting hoses, which then start to leak and so on. So better just find something that you can use to suck oil out, pump, compressed air operated vacuum thing or something along those lines.
edit: Ah, I believe that now it popped to my mind how I did replace oil filter. I did it probably from below and front side, using tool which has bicycle chain in it and then you just twist it so that chain grabs from filter and loosens it. Hmm, or was it from above
Could be that 240 was below and 360 above, ZX was certainly above, meh, I have too many cars

This will make your life easier:
Re: Punishment!!
That tool is similar what I did use, very nice tool, if filter is stuck, it will crush it out by force

Re: Punishment!!
Yeah, that tool looks just right Changing the filter isn't great on 360s, you need to get at it from below and remove the engine splash guard (at least I do!). A much easier job on 340s ...

Re: Punishment!!
340's are lovly in the filter department..1.7's defo! i always use a screw driver and a hamer to get em off if they are tight..but normally twist off quite easy by hand!

Re: Punishment!!
I always found the filter pretty easy to change on the 360, needed the tool once but after subsequent changes i did on the car you could always just about undo it with yer hands. Try doing this on a K11 Micra

Well mine do, even though they're pretty much in tatters!jtbo wrote:360s had a splash guard?
Wow From underneath or is there a way of doing it from above?SteveP wrote:I always found the filter pretty easy to change on the 360, needed the tool once but after subsequent changes i did on the car you could always just about undo it with yer hands.
Sounds dodgy, maybe I should rephrase that

Re: Punishment!!
From underneath... never bothered trying to remove the filter from above, although I must add that the undertray had long gone!
Oh and the Micra's not mine - but that's the only work it ever needs doing
