eBay scammers strike again!

Post by Pie » 04 May 2009 12:47 am

Now most of you will remember me being over the moon about winning the 340GL on ebay. Unfotunatly i have some bad news.

I contatced the seller 'Billy' as I was going away on holiday for 3 weeks of beer and snow in Canada. Asked him if it was ok to pay and collect when I got back and he said it was no problem what so ever.
Anyhoo, 3 weeks of boarding went by (WAY TOO quickly :( ) and I got in contact with 'Billy' only to find him moaning about the price. He didnt want to it go for less than £100 even though I had won it for£87.
Anyway a few emails were sent and then I revieved this reply on ebay;

hello Simon
I,m afraid your car got towed on (I think ) saturday morning,It was always the likely result when you chose to leave it sitting .I haven't enquired as to where it has been taken. In the circumstances it seems somewhat pointless to come up to me since the car is presumably stored at some central facility ,therefore probably easiest to pay me by paypal and spare yourself the journey. Truly not the result I hoped for but it results from your choices,

Billy

I smell a scam, am I going to pay? Am i fook!! I cannot believe what a complete and utter twat this guy is.
Sorry for the lack of updates, just as I said, I went away on holiday, and then when I got back my computer was broken. So looks like im back on the hunt for a cheap ovlov again :(

I love the fact he thinks it got towed. It could have been stolen for all he knows! I mean if i was REALLY tight I could have drove down there myself and stolen it.

He has since started an 'unpaid item dispute' pretty amusing I found.

Anyhoo, thought id update you :'(

so DO NOT deal with ebay member 'anonymousthepoet' i've had nothing but trouble. He's now threatend to send the V5 off to the DVLA, which i'm sure would be fraud as I have to sign it, even though ebay is legal etc etc

Anonymouspoet, more like anonymousmuppet, jeez the guy sounds like a proper tool.

As mentioned thats got to be fraud because as you say you have to sign the V5 as the new owner. Just another one of those E Bay stories i suppose, seems to be happening more and more often, or the scum bags of the country are creeping out of the woodwork and using the Bay to hide behind? Also if you won it for less than £100 it's a binding contract isn't it so he can't just change his price after the auction has ended- dick.

Proper cack for you, but i'm sure something will come along soon enough.

I FOOKING KNEW IT!!! Remember I had problems with him? I said I'd give him £100 for the car if he took it off ebay as it was sooooo close and I could go up there tonight and pay and collect blah blah blah. He kept saying it'll stay on ebay even though it didn't sell untill you bought it on the 3rd or 4th go. Total wanker. sm31 sm64 sm72 sm93

Bad crack dude.
One of the reasons I recomend getting something from here if poss. Doesn't seem to be much going at the minute though. Unless you're looking for minters at higher cost.
Hope you find something soon dude.
Good luck with the hunt.

I know, he's a complete ****! I mean, if your car wasnt there when you got home, first thing youd do would be call the police and report it stolen. Then if they say it was towed because it had no tax you'd act, but he hasnt even bothered calling the police.

I'm sorry but there is no way in HELL im paying for **** all.
