Slotmag Wheel Refurb advice

Post by volvosneverdie » 13 May 2009 08:57 am

Aye up everyone.
Ive got thus far in refurbing a set of Alleycat Slot Mags:

Ive got most of the paint off the backs/walls, (was VERY old and flakey) and the metal underneath looks very pourus indeed.
Is there any specific kind of paint I need to be using to ensure a good seal under tyres?
Or should I be running an innertube?
The tyres that came off looked to be origonal, and they were NOT holding air.

Any help as always greatly appreciated.

If you want to paint the insides you really want them totally flake free, then you need some acid etch primer, this eats into them a small amount giving you a biting coat for primer and paint there after.

So are these the secret wheels you've been keeping under wraps from us? Going to look good when done and on.

If you want them polished, Frosts to a good home polishing kit you use with a drill.

So if they are for some Yank muscle they will more than likely be 5 stud, and if they are 4, they definately won't be 4x100.

I think Kaos is getting shot down too much these days. Can we all have a day off shooting down Kaos's boasts please.
Thank you everyone.

Ya'll struggle to get a seal with that much crud on the inside :shock

Best budget for tubes even if you do what was suggested previous.

Nitromors and a wired brush will get rid of all that crud dude, worked a treat on mine, just wrap up in old clothing, googles, gloves etc.. before you start, carefull on the face tho so you dont scratch it, and then polish your heart out :D

@Sven- allycats, like it says in the first line of the post.

@dan- your scary chemicals scare me dude. I'm bound to accidentally get some in my mouth somehow. I might have a crack with some nitromors on the sides, think the faces just want a rub and pollish though.

Cheers dudes.
