My job is such that there are some short brakes when I can only wait, so sometimes I look in here, but it has been quite quiet here recently.

Can i add to this thread then, "Who's at work then, and what do you do?"

That sounds interesting even if you say it sounds posher than it is :D

I'm at work and tomorrow is my last day. I'm the guru at Siemens for system center operations manager which is a funky monitoring piece of software.

I'm a PhD student, and am trying to make small things levitate eventually. The devices I'm testing are tethered versions, and the vibrometer is just to check the natural frequencies.

Public transport.
Oh the irony.
Ten hour shifts sceduling demand resposive transport for the disabled and elderly. Sporadicly hilarious.
'where to you normally get on the bus madam?'
'at the front, next to the driver. '
Touché old lady, touché.

Tempted to volunteer for the lifeboats for a while just until i sort myself out about what i actually want to DO. Taking June off now to work on some projects, one of which being the 340 :D

ChrisC- That sounds quite epic to me, rather interesting by the sounds of it.

VND- Top draw as always Sir

Speedy- I used to work with my hands, or still should be but there isn't much work about for builders and the like at the moment. I'm 27 and still don't know what i want to do, but a mate of mine is starting a bespoke joinery firm. Problem is, he has no money but all the tools so the plan is i bank role him then start working for/with him once the work pics up.

Being a card carrying old fart I'm far too lazy to work (actually I retired with ill health some years ago). Now I "potter about" in my small workshop "fixing things"

When I did manage to drag myself out of the pit I pretended to be an product investigation engineer for a car manufacturer.

Yeah, I really can't complain... I get to play with big expensive toys all day, run round dressed up like a spaceman in cleanroom gear, and generally get to train to become a mad bloke in a shed.

Talking of mad blokes and sheds, good to see you back Mac

building lorry's for the company Terberg Benschop. heavy roro terminal tractors are my speciality, but i do the roadlegal lorry's as wel. i build them from the ground up, starting with a clear chassis, installing the air-brake system, axles, engine, cabin, all the hydraulic steering hoses, lights, alarms, fifth wheel etc etc etc, after all that filling fluids, firing it up for the first time, test + roadtest it :D . pretty exciting job actually..
