Im off to pick up 'Ron' the Burgundy 360 GLE tomorrow morning.
looks like its going to be about a 600 mile round trip.

Beats the 584 miles it took to collect Jet/St Giles/Stealth.

Anyone done a longer run for the love of a new Volvo 300?

Tell us your stories.........

That is a pretty epic trip, car looks worth it though!

There's been a few but not as far as you at all! I reckon Tom or Aymat might win this?

1. 2004 ish - Norfolk to see a 3 door grey Mk2 360GLT with B19E, was about £275 - total heap when arrived, offered £75 just because it felt like such a wasted journey  Refused, bet the car got scrapped

2. Couple of months ago about 120 miles down south to see a low mileage white GLT - ruuuusttt again, but then I was in the area anyway so it wasn't too bad :D

3. Doncaster for the yellow 1982 343 - gave my mate a lift since he bought it before me

One day I decided that I wanted to take picture of one location up north and decided that while I'm at it I go and see city where I did born, so after bit of missed turns and such I had driven ~1400km.

I did took only one photo and I did not stop in city where I was born, just drive trough it, perhaps not most sensible trips I have driven, but I saw nice scenery in place or two (which from I did not take any photos)

Yeah, not in UK (but inside one country and almost non stop, needed only to add fuel) and indeed not parts for car collected in process, however afterwards needed new intake air pipe as my cheap aluminium flexible hose which I had used did fail, so next I got one made from cardboard, it is perfect

When I bought my 360, it was ~500km as I needed to go back home to get wheels which I did not remember to take with me so that did double the trip.

I drove 170 km to fetch my 340. Didn't even think it was that much. I looked at a couple ads for mk1 343s that were 500-600 km away but I never happened to have the finances in order at the right time.

Yeah, surely it would been cheaper to just pay price of wheels to guy which was selling 360 and buying my old car, but he insisted that wheels are needed so there I drove few extra kilometers, but I really did want 360, I know it right away when I sat into car first time. Everything just was right.

I flew to Freiberg just south of Dresden to pick up my green GLT two years ago. That's about 1100kms there and back (680 miles) ... I'm sure Aymat will top that though.

I would have flown to Spain to pick up an A/C car eventually, I guess ...

Damn, why do you people get cars from so far?
For the first 360GLE we drove 2,5 KM and for the second one we drove 4 KM

And now there is a very nice 360GLE MK2 for sale at only 300 meter

I'm heading down to the South east tomorrow so if you do happen to see a W plate Volvo FH12 truck in white with a HIAB trailer in green/red swerving over all lanes to get a look and/or flashing/pipping wildly then it's only me.......!!

134miles although I got the train and walked the last 7 miles through beautiful Bedford countryside (and country lanes with no pavements) on the first day of spring. It was like 25C and I was in jeans! Safe to say I wore no shirt on the drive back.

Thinking about it, I also went to see the car before I bought it so that's actually 268miles

Yes but you live in Born IIRC? DAF & Volvo 343 birthplace or Mecca ;-)
