Silverline do a decent torque wrench for less than 20 quid:

Saw a 2 parter vid on youtube - v.impressed but still cautious. As for a torque wrench, looks good. A good range of 28-210Nm also! The halfords ones are normally 10-60 or 60-180 or sumthing so u cant buy one for all.

I'll check the Wattage of the foglight bulbs but I'm pretty sure I bought low enough ones.

As for pic updates, here are afew:

Spare diff casing stripped (never done one before so handy to do it on a bench 1st time)

Diff out and welded up. I was concerned that there wasnt much in there at 1st but they are hefty lugs and should hold well.

Still need to find time to polish the car and get sum decent pics of it. oh and abit of a drop! Changed over afew things like filters, new tail light, plstics odds and sods etc etc Yet to fit the new headlight and foglight though.

Oh and some new numberplates will be fitted when its polished. Should help transform the car. Just a shame about those door dents I have...

Get involved with the cambelt...seriously...it's not hard, especially with Andy's excellent video. The trickiest bit is keeping everything lined up. Just be a bit careful, and double-check all the marks line up. Easy.

James - yeah, they arent expensive to buy and just waiting to get my other car bk so I can give it a try. Oh and buy sum torque wrenches etc. Still nervous - done umpteen engine swaps but still cautious about getting it wrong and bending everything!!

Afew more updates. Fitted the headlight, pretty easy, just fiddley to get to having to take bumper off etc. The difference it made is huge, better than the other one I have that I thought was good!

Was surprised how clean the car was behind there.

You can see the difference in the two units due to water ingress...

...and the same on the metal contacts.

A altho my new number plates are the new style 'narrow' font so think they may look weird. Then again, for £5 a pair i'm not guna get too fussy.

That'll do for today.

Some priorities to keep me busy over the next few weeks seem to be cambelt, exhaust blowing, wheel balancing, tail light bulb. Then onto a polish and engine clean once I drop the oil and then may consider a 2" drop. Probs keeping the standard wheels, just some lower profile tyres if/wen I come across them.

Wouldnt mind a spare 14" alloy tho if anyone has one lying around?

Oh I have a horn missing! Just realised!

It looks like it's missing a "trumpet" on one of the horns. Weirdly, they all seem to be like that...?

That is unusually tidy up-front.

cheers

Yeah the plastic has come away - but in theory would have been trapped behind the bumper even if it fell off so god knows where it went.

I was expecting alot worse rust wise tbh as I have a Mk1 Fiesta and that was rotten!

In other news it wouldnt start this morning. Strong battery, had fuel, but wouldnt start, changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm and after a rather loud backfire it started fine. (Just in time for work). Need my other car back now so I can get the cambelt done. I'm getting concerned.
