it's quiet here, but that'll soon change. 340Turbo seems to be in a stage where it stays intact so back on with the 343..
first up is suspension and stuff, then the rebuild B14.4E will drop in for a while, and next year...

redblock Turbo conversion:

in basics i'll try to make it easy on myself and do the first hassle with the B14 to turbo-redblock + torquetube conversion AND LH2.4 without making anything look tidy.
when it's all good and running; i'll rebuild a B230FT or FK, porno style and swap it 1 on 1 and make a "factory style" brandnew loom to match with it.

how boring to have 2 cars that are both running excellent

so its back on with making parts look good that nobody ever sees sm4

powdercoated frontbumper with MY76 trimm
Image
soon on the car, but have to make a bracket for the licence plate first.

some powdercoated front suspension stuff
Image

powdercoated and polybushed wishbones and the wtf-do-you-call-these-in-english --rods
Image

struts
Image

Intraxx lowering springs, modified topmounts and topmount bearings that didn't fit
Image

sticking to the "everything will be new" point of view, new steering and lower ball joints and wheelbearing kits
Image

Koni red, on the comfy-sporty setting
Image
quite a bitch to get them properly in the strut as these are vw passat koni's, tiny bit shorter and much thicker pistonrod

all together, with new discs offcourse
Image

as seen in the pic above, i've also started on painting the calipers and hubs
everything brushed
Image

ready for paint, including new rear brake drums
Image

and after the 1st coat of blue
Image

rebuilding and refurbushing the calipers tomorrow probably after that the struts are completely pre-assembled.

watch this space, gonna spend quite a bit of spare time on the 343 this month... let the fun begin sm4

cheers Nikdev,

turbo will fit pretty well, even with slightly modified stock enginemounts. i'm going to make my own engine mounts, and let the engine sit on them rather than hang on the mounts as with an original 360. this should give enough opportunity to bolt on a bigger turbo later on, a GT garrett with T3 flange would be an ideal bolt on. fell in love with ballbearing turbo's as i'm now having a GT2560R spooled up by a B14 in the other one, mental!

don't know when i'll start on the redblock conversion, first the 343 will get all the way powdercoating parts and then i'm converting my other car, the 340Turbo to programmable injection based on megasquirt 2. if i like that i'm skipping LH2.4 for the redblock turbo and give this one a megasquirt2 based programmable injection system too.

cheers guys, it doesn't cost a lot of patience; just extensive preperations really, if you have everything lying around the final bolting everything together becomes rather fun :D

fabbed a stainless steel licence plate bracket and mounted the powdercoated MY76 front bumper today

finally had time to do some work on the rear axle, first bended + clamped the brake line
Image
Image

then yesterday afternoon was a short window of time to swap the axle, started 13:15 and had to be gone at 16:45 so no time for a cup of tee inbetween
Image
Image
Image

then with everything finally done at around 16:30 it was time to lower the car on its wheels again and then followed about 5 minutes of swearing in atleast 10 different languages. while going bolt-hunting with the left leafspring in my hands (the ones i got earlier were 10mm too long for my sake) i managed to flip it over with the short side to the rear rather than to the front and never thought of it while preassembling the axle, offcourse i noticed the bolts didn't go in by themself straight away under the car but still was able to push them in by hand with no problems. anyway, this is what happened:
Image

so what to do.. had to be out of the factory by 16:45 cause the doorman will throw the alarm on at 17:00, decided to throw all the weight in the rear of the trailer to raise the rear of the car and then i had 1,5cm clearance; should be enough. with parking it in front of the house i had to disconnect the trailer, a few meters in reverse blocked the rear wheel, just enough space to turn it into it's parking space hahahaha. now i'll have to wait for the rain to stop and then swap the leafspring around again, bummer!

at least he whole rear suspension now matches the front :D
