if i had a '76er one with that kind of low chassis no, i'd probably make a 363CS replica of it, just to see the look on their faces

Agreed.
If you were putting a big fibreglass spoiler on the back, or riveting on box arches, I think itd be a shame. But your obviously a man commited to the cause of saving and improving 300s, so i recon people should pretty much stfu.

And thats all I have to say about that.

It's a strange world, I'm going to try to get my 1980 343 back to look like yours... and yours is a starting point for your project!!! I must admit that I'd love to do some mods to mine, as it will be far from original anyway with all the rust etc. At the moment it's enough just to have a Mk1 in the drive again! Yours looks in great condition, good luck with the work.

I read something the other day about a "1959 mini club" - for cars from tbe mini's first production year. Apparently, a kind of glass windscreen washer bottle, which is slightly smaller than the 1960 version, is particularly sought after. It's worth about 500 Euros, if you can find one. Also, members of that club fit a particular type of 1959 windscreen wiper to their cars, I forget the name of the manufacturer ...

That article amused me lots :-) But I can see the point of keeping really early, particularly rare cars (like the 76 343s) original.

Cheers

You never heard of the '76 wiper fluid container for a 343 that people threw away because it didn't work? At V3C, there is a guy that has been looking for that container for years and never found one. I think he has found one by now, but those things seem to be rare too ;)

No, I didn't! Bt it doesn't surprise me though, everyone I've spoke to says Volvo threw the very first models onto the market far too quickly.

Cheers

yes, the famous wiper fluid container! hahaha

well, maybe if i had the car collection that guy has, i'd probably do the same thing. (he owns a 76,77,78 and a 79 343 and a SHITLOAD of parts)

lucky for me this is "just" a 343DL from 1980, not a special/limited model or anything BUT STILL a 343, one of aprox 100 in Holland and this will be one of those cars that will be long lasting and around for the longer term. the biggerst part of the project will be doing that, making it last. and while i'm at it, i'll be modding it slightly making it totally "my" 343 :D .

That's what we Dutchies do: We wine... a lot... Some kind of useless research was published today:

In short: We are a very happy nation and that's why we whine about silly, unimportant, small things...
