Ideas for 6x9 mountings OTHER than the rear shelf?

Hey
Just sorting out some audio for my 340.... And I was wondering wether anyone had any thoughts on where is best to mount 6x9's, other than the rear parcel shelf? So far I've had the seats down WAY more than I've had them up, with all kinds of crap in the boot, so I don't want speakers in my shelf if I can help it! In fact I've taken out the shelf entirely, it now lives in the garage
So far I've seen pics on here of 6x9's mounted in the bottom of the rear doors (it's a 5 door) and read a little bit of putting them in the 4x7 spaces on the rear, with spacers? All searched out now, so I thought I'd ask.
Any thoughts? I'm ummmming and ahhhing about it lots so I'd appreciate any ideas or suggestions! Most likely so far is in the lower rear door panels, but yeah, any thoughts would be cool.
They're they're faaairly shallow speakers, compared to other 6x9's in the shop anyways....
Thanks!

Rear doors is probably the best option. I've put off getting 16x9s as it always involves cutting a hole in my immaculate interior

It could also work in the front doors with spacers, I think chris did this (with a nice chipboard finish

)

I had 6x9's in the front doors of Kar, but tbh it sounded aweful. I cut the front of the door pockets off, and moulded the rear of the door pocket into a speaker box that was full of acoustic fluff.
In Fake, I have 18mm ply spacers pushing 6" components away from the door, with the tweeter mounted in the top bit of the door card on the angled bit next to the door release. It sounds hugely better, is less work and you still get to keep the door pockets
I'll grab some pics if it's any use.

Cool cool
I've just put some little 4" jobbies in the standard speaker location on the front door, so nothing else can go there.. Deffo leaning heavily towards the rear doors now!
Cheers for the offer of pics, though they'd not be any use to my situation I think, bar general curiosity
Thanks for the replies!

I managed tomount 6x9's under the fromnt seat facing forwards. Sound was quite good in the front by does not help much with the rear. If you often have teh seats down then I doubt that will be much of a problem for you.

6x9" next to the rear couch and 2 10 inch woofers under the rear seat. along with 2 12 inch woofers in the trunk and some more speakers in the doors it was loud as hell.

^Hahhaha, plenty of options there!!!!
Forward facing under the seats is interesting, although I imagine it to be more work.. I will investigate.. Bah, I'm gonna go out now and take a rear door card off and see what lurks beneath. I've not had a chance to mess with it all yet.
Thanks.

Just had a peek under the rear door cards... Looks like it'd involve cutting out some door metal. I was hoping to avoid hacking metal.. Then again.. Hmmm...
Indecisive!

So true. I don't think acoustics are a strong point on 300's though. lol
I'm not fussed about an SQ install anyway.

A couple of mid-bass GZ's in the beltek boxes under the front seats and a 4x60w HU has to suffice for me. Until I go carving holes in it which I CBA.
The best soloution if you want a nice setup would be decent front comps in door pods and a single sub (what size/make depends on many factors) ran by a 4ch amp. IMO.

Thats' what I always told myself I'd get, until my standard stereo broke and I needed a replacement ASAP and with less money than I'd hoped... Dammit.
I looked al over the place now, and I think I'm going with Dai's idea, under the front seats..

I hugely agree. If Foggy still has his V12 for sale... that would do the job nicely.

Manual windows I'm afraid..
Just been fecking about with MDF and stuff, made some super-crappy (like REALLY UGLY) boxy holder things to mount them under the front seats.. No cable yet to wire them in though.. Will get some and see how they sound tomorrow.
Just need to figure out a better way to hold them in place securely.. Wedging them in with bits of MDF is hardly ideal
Thanks for your help folks.

Hi mate. Why not put them where they were supposed to go? In the rear quarter panal blanking plates.
Cheers Mark.
