hey.

Come july me and a bunch of mates are looking to head to amsterdam for a week.

apart from the obvious getting shitfaced and sampling districts and cafe's

im looking for decent safe places to stay that are also cheap, and other fun places worth visiting..

ive already got a list of:

art gallerys
canals
cafe ;)
red light district
windmills and tulips.

anything else/where/ nearby to visit

any places you can recomend? maybe you have a big garage you'd rent for the week? who knows all info welcome :)

You seem to have mis-spelled the second one from the top in list of things to do.
There's no c in that word.

RLD is overrated, it's cool to wander down there once but you'll be hassled and/or pick pocketed. It's interesting though, you'll see addicts smoking opium publicly. Apart from that, it's a great city. You'll want to go to coffeeshops, not cafes. The brian hotel is cheap, good, central and not in a scummy area. Also the yank that works there sounds like Dr Evil. There's usually family guy on the TV downstairs. There used to be loads of great coffeeshops but they chop and change all the time. The only one I enjoyed that's still there is the small bulldog next to the doors coffeeshop. You wouldn't expect much from a chain but the guy who runs it was a proper legend to me.

Don't bother with the van gogh museum

If you want to see Anne Frank's house, get there very very early

Don't buy drugs off the street, they are fake.

If you want to get to unnatural levels of high, get something called ICE. It'll cost you 40euros for 1g. But damn, go easy. Think of it like 100% proof alcohol.

Oh and if you're planning on driving, don't

Cycling in Amsterdam is like driving in Rome. Exciting and dangerous 8) Go to the RLD just to "say you've been there" but there's more to Amsterdam than weed and sex...

Cheers

In the RLD district you can spot 2 V70R's
Ow and lots of girls of course... But most of them are realy ugly.

Maybe you could go to the daf-museum in Eindhoven, if you are a variomatic lover?

yeah it's a pity that Eindhoven is a 2 hours drive from Amsterdam.

what's more worth it is Utrechts red light district, those girls don't get hopped by anything that comes from schiphol so they are less worn out

well seriously, i don't do drugs so i don't have a clue where you should be in Amsterdam for that stuff. a place where i do like to go when i'm in Amsterdam is "De Pijp" near Albert Cuyp market, it's a really fun neigbourhood filled with good restaurants, nice shops etc.

In 2 hours you are from Amsterdam to Born (Volvo 300 factory). Amsterdam - Eindhoven is 1:20 with the train. With the car you should make it in the same time :)

going over on the plane is the plan.

It'll be my birthday weekend so the sat/sun will be getting shit faced and doing the usual beer and obligatory coffeshops ( or cafes as i put down for saftey)

but the rest of the time will be seeing the sights etc as most of the group inc me has never been abroad...

so we'll be walking most places.

and yes red light district is a been there done that got the t-shirt style visit.

If it's museums you're after, don't miss out on this one.

Personally I'd spend € 13 on a round trip to Utrecht and have even more fun over there.
