A Hello with my latest purchase

Post by davemk1gti » 22 Mar 2010 08:39 pm

Firstly hello every one.

I recently purchased the red 340 dl as seen in the for sale section via pistonheads.

Some of you will know 'bazboy' aka Dan from here, he made it to the V3M stand at retro-rides last year (only just though) - his primered 340 normally sits in the barn in front of my sd1 but now it has a younger brother to keep it company.

This is not my first Volvo and Ive lost count of which number car it is. my other volvo was a 240 saloon that had chopped springs and 16" alloys and a couple of bucket seats and a chavvy exhaust -I broke it for parts last year in the end (nothing wrong with it but no one wanted it.

heres some pics from saturday when me and dan collected it.

I have a 3.5 injected V8 and manual gearbox, plus 240 rear axle to go in at some point.

I will add some suspension and bigger brakes to it and some wider 14" steels - probably banded to get the right offset.

This is not my first project car as I used to fix up old bimmers and golfs - and still do it as a hobby now - I just fancied a v8 in some tihing and thought why not do it to a 340?

I should hopefully make a start in the next few months

I believe I might have met you last year ish, whenever the RR Hampshire meet was.

Looks a good car, I was very tempted myself. Like the idea of a Rover V8, it's been mentioned lots of times before but I've never seen it done.

Welcome davey, think I almost bought that 240 off you at one point. Before I got an attack of poverty down my trouser legs.
V8 in a 340 would earn koudos points the world over man. Plenty of updates and pics demanded.
