OK, well i got a car this morning its a 1984

GLT

i cant get it till Thursday the 1st of April coz its parked in by 20 odd volvo's and i need my brother to help get it but on Thursday i drive it home and then asses what needs to be done next. It cost $600 Australian and the heater fan is busted and the wing is a bit crumbled but the guy i am getting it off is giving me some new bits:) and there are an array of plastic bits missing or need to be put back on, its a 1.9 he said but i think its a 2L. any idea? but with a bit of TLC it should make for a fun little beast!!!!
i love the idea of front engine rear gear box and a 53/47 weight distribution:) not to mention rear wheel drive ill get some photos up and a bit of a progress report some time soon:) any pointers would be a great help

MKII GLT, nice one!
You're the right side of the country for getting parts anyway, these go well with a bit of fettling. I'm afraid I don't know much about the MKII's.
No doubt someone with a bit more knowledge will be along shortly.
600 seems good money though!

I have not had a proper look at the rear drivers side door yet but it did not open when i went and looked at the car and i was wondering if there is a trick to it, either that or ill just take off the inside off the door and see if i can see whats wrong.

No mate, no trick.
Turn the key then pull the handle.
The handles have been known to 'snap' inside.
Not a flaw, but a common problem.
Might be your handle mech is the prob.

nice one !!!
my rear drivers side door handle tends to sorta stick sometimes and can be hard to open at times so yer it could just be something in the handle sticking or something in mechanism itself.
oh yer if u dont mind me asking, where abouts in victoria are you?
ive seen a few nice 360's getting round since ive moved back down to victoria.
what are your plans for the beast?? lol

As an owner of a fairly shabby MKIII GLT, I must feel slightly envious here! I don't suppose you'd want to swap the alloys for a set of boring MkIII items??????
No??
Oh well
We need to set up an Australian 300 Owners Club...

no sorry i am keeping the wheels
and i agree about the 300 victoria club.
i will upload photos in a min i am waiting for them to upload onto photo bucket first
to top off my purches the car came with perrelis on 4 out of 5 wheels:)
but the back ones have been siting on an angle for a while by the look of it and the inch on the inside of the tyre is compleetly bald!
so far i have re atached one light in the dash and the needle for the petrol gadge
fixd the horn i think ( is the top of the button suposed to work as well or is it only the bottem of the buttons that is coneckted?)
and i straighted out the panel that runs under the head lights and above the bumper.
i got the door panel off the inside of the door that dose not open i still have not got it to open nothing is coneckted exeped the lock any ideas would be great
as for plans i will keep it stock for now get lots of stuff fixed and get it regesterd then start playing around with some performence
oh and lower it a little bit 1 or 2 inches.
and try and make all the panels the same shade of red
and upgrad the sound system a bit depending on funds
also it needs a new window, oridgenly i thort i could get an o brian repair but the chips are in the wrong places:(
any body know how much a windscreen is?
