Hey peeps
ive just read a thread about foggy ordering/coming by whatever some front valances, just wondering if anything came of it or if they are still available?!
or can anything else be made to fit?
mine is pretty rotten and the mot guy thinks itll be a fail at some point soon!

I've been involved with a couple of schemes...
One was bodykit front valances...the other was the possibility of having replacement steel panels made. Neither are currently available. I take it you were fancying a fibreglass copy of the standard front valance? That's not something I'd considered before, but not a bad idea at all...
cheers

well either would be good to be honest!
im slowly warming mum and dad up to me restoring/tweaking the 360 a bit. theres been no massive complaints or insults so far!
just wondering if anything could be made/pressed out of aluminium to replace the front end?
i should be able to fabricate somthing similar if i can get hold of some steel plate/ally plate and poprivits haha
the main structure of the valance is sound, its teh bits near the wheel,s and the front bottom edge. as usual i think.

Should be a *relatively* easy panel to hand beat in mild steel...which is what I was looking at having a guy I know do...
cheers

Insert 'beating by hand' innuendo here.

Haha
So the front valance is unobtainium? Why when it's the most road/weather battered panel is beyond me. It's a fairly straight forward panel or at least the front lower bit is, would it not be worth looking into getting a batch made up by someone, i'm sure there would be enough takers.

Well yeah, that was the plan...get my panelbeater friend to make a batch. Hopefully around £100 each. Not cheap, but handmade...
They're no longer available from Volvo, and it's not something Hadrian do...so you're out of luck
cheers

Indeed not cheap but if it keeps the tin worm at bay surely it's a worth while investment, mines properly rotten and looks like it's getting worse on a daily basis.
It's previously been bodge repaired by being plated over the existing rust, hence it rusting away so quickly

yep theres been a few threads about in my 5 years here, but mine seems to have got alot worse since winter.
and teh po ran it into a small bollard and theres a dent in the front. its had a whole new front end excep tthe valance.
ill see if i can get in touch with any local fabricators to see what the deal is.
tho foggys hand beating mate may be good.

That front panel is "not" an easy handbeat, before you consider the 90 degree foldover.
It's got complex curves in 2 planes, as well as the numberplate sticking outy bit. I'd likely make the front face, then weld the 90 degree fold on after. Or, Has anyone ever actaully tried to get hold of the orig tooling? I know an owners club managed this recently (I think for MG?). It's got to be worth some phonecalls.

I was thinking of a mk2 one...which (lacking the number plate bump - which I believe is an add-on anyway?) isn't so bad. My contact has an english wheel...
The lip could be formed in a couple of different ways. I showed him, and he seemed to think it was relatively easy...most of the stuff guys like him make is for 60s stuff, so super-curvy.

is that more tricky than the customery, and complimentary courtesy of a reach around?

Nope, part of the pressing. I agree, in the grand scheme of aston martin restoring, it's easy. However, I *won't* pay aston martin restoring prices :lol:I really do want an english wheel, they seem much fun if you can drive it.

Im guessing a rolling pannelbeaters dolly-pommel affair?
