well i have my theory tomorrow, and im hung over.

then first lesson on wednesday
getting closer to driving my beast of a lolvo
well, rebooked theory for tuesday... and my instructor said i wont have a problem passing before july! so excited, can't wait for more lessons

Jesus. Think I did mine on mon and booked it on the thurs before.
Its the easiest bit of the licence attaining adventure dude, so dont sweat it.
I only did mine last year, and i spent most of the time staring at the lass next to me's tits.
They WERE pretty awesome.

Theory is a piece of cake. Done two 2 1/2 years ago (C & D), 60 questions then in 70 minutes. If you speed read - 8.5 minutes to do that

I practised with the CD-ROM until I knew the whole question bank. Hazard perception for me was 65 and 66 out of 75. In and out the door in 25 minutes. The Hazard can be done separately now?? It's not difficult to do the hazard part IF you know the mechanics of the
game.

thanks guys!
well im ok with the theory, but still struggling with hazard perception - im passing by 10+ marks on it but im still not 100% sure why i dont get more because i do click on hazard As soon as i see them...

Here's how it works:
Every hazard has a time window. for the sake of argument let's say it's 3 seconds. If you click just as the window of opportunity opens, you get 5 points. Take a bit longer then it's 3, 2 & 1. Then the window of opportunity has closed. The thing is, if you're razor sharp at spotting hazards before they develop (the name of the game being clicking on "developing" ones, not just potential ones), then you're most like to shoot your bolt and click too soon, before the window of opportunity opens, so if you click once you get zilch... So the name of the game would be to click once, then count to two and click again. That way if your first click is at the start of the window, and the second is half-way through, you'll still get the highest points of the two. If you click a tad early and miss the start of the window, then the second click should land inside the window and you'll get say 4. You really have to click a huge amount of times to trigger the anti-cheat algorithm and be penalised.
In short:
1) Don't worry about regular hazards, just the developing ones - they are bleedin' obvious!
2) Use a two click strategy to hedge against clicking too early.
So many experienced drivers when upgrading their licence come a cropper on the hazard, because they are too good at spotting them and don't understand computer games!

looks i did exactly that, introduction video does the "oh look theres a person crossing the side street, potential hazard *circles*" but it doesnt say you dont click for these - it highlights the bloody thing so i presumed it was approporiate to click when i see stuff like that. really wish i checked this thread earlier as i missed out by one mark. atleast got full marks on the questionnaire part

oh well ill book a retake as i know what to do now

Sorry to hear that Valman, better luck next time.
As you have found out the multi-guess bit is easy. You'll know what to expect next time! Unfortunately, I take it you have to do the multi-guess bit again too. (it was only split into two on the cat C & D when the number of questions and clips went up and made the test very long).
I think the HPT is a load of bollocks. I mean they should test it, but I think it's best done as part of the practical test out in the real world, even if you had to talk for five minutes of the test saying what you see*.
It's a bit of crafty tax really.

yep im going to re-book it tomorrow (they had a slot at 10 this morning, but gotta wait 3 days

) basically i clicked too early aswell, on the videos it had the cars that pull out of the drive - bleeding obvious that it would pull out so i click before that happens and dont click again untill "my" car slows down <-- hence the low marks! hopefully wont happen again next time
and i definitely agree that it would be much more realistic to have it as part of the practical as they can also access your reaction to the hazard rather than having the ability to spot it then realise your car is slowing down because of it

I managed to get a better test date by phoning round other DVLA test centres, (late cancellations etc, dont rely on your local office)
your instructor should let you book wherever you want so long as your'e paying for the car.
