Get parts sources all in one place?

I've emailed a few motor factors, trying to find if they have, stock or can find any 300 parts, I'm going to email every single one!
I'm thinking a list of parts, list of suppliers, people who can make parts (no matter the cost, when you need it you need it)... that sort of thing would be good yes? I know I need it so much I'm trying to make it.

Maybe a forum dedicated to PARTS SOURCING, not individual parts but a live list of all parts available, scrap yards with 300's -

Also I wonder if as a group of nearly 2000 we can get motor factors to run a few pattern parts off, some stuff is really hard to find new.

I agree, it's a great plan but it wouldn't be easy to keep up to date. Certainly doesn't mean we shouldn't think of a way to do it though!

Is it the suspension stuff you are trying to find still? The only bits I think I've not found a supplier of yet are the top spring cups and they seem pretty universal at first glance.

I'm getting there, just a few bush sets that are a bit illusive, but most of the important stuff is sorted.

I'd keep a parts forum tidy  , I am kindof advertising the whole 1900+ members to motor factors and asking if they'd be interested in running some parts off, I mean we arent going anywhere and we'll always need parts, defo worth a shot anyway. they can only say no, or YES!

What we need is a BOM (bill of materials) system, I thought about trying to get a system I co-developed with our IT guy going but its not ideal, and he is pretty busy (I am just the systems analyst).

Basically its a web based database for electronic products.

Main structure is:
Assembly code (parent)
Location - part number - description (can also contain other assemblies)
part number Linked to - any number of AVLs (approved vendor lists- Vendor part numbers + vendor and price etc)
Vendor database - name, address, email , phone etc
This system doesn't have the right user account control (well it doesn't work well), so everyone would have have to have the ability to delete/change etc.

Alternatively I might try a persuade a commercial competitor system to give us a freebee account, they normally charge $100 per month, but it also has file attach for documents/picture etc. Something we were planning for our system too.

They are not ideal and require quite a bit of work, someone would have to build each car with Volvo part numbers, and probably do it for each year. Its quite hard to try and build in 'variations', but you can copy and build new assemblies from existing ones and just change the parts you know about.
