Hiya volvoniuns

Post by CBA » 03 Jun 2010 10:17 pm

Still going strong, lots of new parts!
MWWWRRAAAWWWmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!
Locked up under braking today at 80MPH, would be the first time at such a speed. so controllable past the limit, nothing negative about the experience whatsoever... (you know when 80MPH feels like 50MPH and you just run out of easy braking room??? SCREEECH!!, she really is the best car I ever owned)

Not taking the piss! - this car... all it does for me - EVER!, is brake well, embarrass other drivers, be reliable, comfortable, economical, insanely frugal, save my life..... If it had an ass I would kiss it.

I see why you all love them.

She Will have a FULL respray this year or early next... might change the colour. (but volvo do make NICE* colours, shameful to change it), just touch it up... who does such work???

Costs 7p a day in insurance.
6p a day tax ISH,
50MPG if you drive it right thats 50 miles for £6.20ish
parts from £2
What else do you want?? self-drive system???

I have paid £700 for 6 months or so transport, 20p a day, summin like that, AND!!! I CAN SMOKE, EAT AND LISTEN WHILE I TRAVEL.. NOT FORGETTING "BE WARM or COOL at my whim"

I'm keeping it forever, that is the point, this car is mine, there are many like it but this one is mine - I shall keep it and look after it for as long as I shall live, for it makes ME live longer for its "being safe".
Bless this Volvo, for she is true and righteous. Always.

seen so many 1,2,3,4 Year old cars blowing smoke or being towed... HA HA E'FFing HA!

Well that's my blurb... sorry I apologise. :D

Diesel on a rather quick roundabout accellerating hard right to build speed for exit onto a long straigh dual carridgeway.
Would have been Kerb, then grass then a tree in modern toss. In the 360 I got unexpected drift, unexpected recovery, unexpected massive boost of adrenaline and the thumbs up from the bloke in the merc who'd been behind me and pulled along side on the straight just to give we the thumbs up.
300s do seem to do their best to keep you safe and alive. 8)

That's what they do... astonishing as it may be, never had something so willing to do the needful.

Yeah I love mine for this. Apart from mine seems to break down more than everyone else's. This might be due to my retardation though

I'm banning your car from getting near Fake. She's had a right paddy this week.

I swear the things can communicate. Fake and Kar do it when on the drive together, they both sheared engine mounts within 12 hours once. I've taken to keeping them at opposite sides.

Bright red boxter pulled up next to me at the lights and started revving - I found out after 10 feet that my prop splines are worn out. I'm hoping that the splines are ok on the "opposite edge" which means I could just flip the prop and not spend any money on a new one :)

I have a prop problem, it rattles like hell in neutral with clutch released... what is that?

Is that not just the clutch release bearing?
Every 300 I've had has been noisy to some extent.
Like having a high pedal, it doesn't necisarily mean it's time for a change.
Unless it's really noisy?

you sure? it's the back of the prop where the noise comes from, with the pedal pressed in there is no noise, when the pedal is let out the prop turns and rattles...

if I grab the prop near the gearbox and let it spin in my hand it doesn't rattle.

Input shaft on the gearbox? Seems weird that the prop itself would rattle

It's normally the output shaft bearing from the bellhousing rather than release bearing (I think....)

They sound rough as anything on all 300s, I've never had one apart to soley fix it though. Something to remember when you have to do a clutch on it as they are both accessible then

Maybe......
Have to check it out properly, is there any other bearing at the gearbox end of the prop?
Prop bearing?
or is the prop just plugged into the box EG the input shaft bearing bears the prop as well...

Like I said before, I've hade it with the haynes - I refuse to use it... the dogs have torn it up anyway  "pieceashit!".
