landrover transfer case

Post by pyro » 10 Aug 2009 11:27 am

Good evening all, basically the volvo has to go :( to fund the landy sort out,

im after a series transfer case, to rebuild as i need to put a high ratio gear set into it to make it more road friendly. http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_35.html anyone know of some one breaking a landy, or has one lying around (as you do)

thanks - ben

unfortunatly the lt77 is 4" longer than the series 4spd. so would require chopping of cross members and chassis mounts, aswell as seatbox and bulkhead. and a custom front and/or rear prop. or shove the engine forward 4 inch. and loose the series front end (bad plan!)

the lt77 gearbox and tcase is also permanent 4 wheel drive, the series one isnt. defenders are all permanent 4x4 so have cv joints on the front, the series axels have uj joints and if they are in constant 4 wheel drive they can self destruct!

so yeah ive considered it haha!
