340 1.4 propshaft, ice cream cone thingy

Post by hillmanjames » 16 Feb 2012 08:04 pm

Hi all!

Im after the bit of propshaft and casing that goes into the back of the bellhousing. Its made of aluminium and looks like an Ice cream cone, If only i knew its proper name!
Its on the right hand side of this photo and just bolts up to the bellhousing.

Before you just bolt another on, what caused it to snap? Only to save the problem happening again (the reason I ask is that my photo of the bellhousing at the top, and if I'd just bolted another on, it would have snapped that too in 1,000 miles)

Chris has a point. What engine it running? F7?

EDIT: Sorry you did mention 1.4. I'm surprised the 1.4 did that to be honest!

Exactly. So either the engine mounts are non existant/so far gone or it's seeing unexpected usage.

Rather than just going through bearing carriers it'd be good if the cause can be fixed rather than the symptom.

The pictures are just some random ones i grabbed off google, mine hasnt snapped yet!

Im putting a 4age into the volvo! Im going to use the shaft and housing i get so that its ready to drop straight into the car, without having to keep taking the current engine in and out all the time as i need the car daily atm, Its all working out though and this is one of the last things i need!

Ill stick some pictures up when its done and a video or two :)

Agreed :D

I have one, but it's at my parents so I'd not be able to get it to you any time soon :( Let me know if no one else comes up with it though.
